BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2022-2025 IX, 2023-2024 I7, and 2022-2023 i4 vehicles. The high-voltage battery cell modules may not have been assembled properly, resulting in stress on the module frame and possible module failure.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 136 units affected.

Description:: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2022-2025 IX, 2023-2024 I7, and 2022-2023 i4 vehicles. The high-voltage battery cell modules may not have been assembled properly, resulting in stress on the module frame and possible module failure.
Consequeces:: Battery module failure may lead to a shutdown of the high-voltage system which can result in a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, module failure increases the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:: Dealers will replace specific high-voltage battery cell modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed September 11, 2025. Another notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available, anticipated December 31, 2025Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

2023 BMW I4 Complaints
The steering wheel would suddenly become stiff (frozen or locked) during normal driving especially during turning. When it happened, I lost total control of the car causing dangerous situations on the road. A warning message appeared stating: "Changed steering effort, drive moderately and contact service center." At a BMW dealership, the problem was reproduced and confirmed. They replaced 12 Volt battery, and the car was released. The new 12 volt battery didn't help the steeling issue. After a few weeks, the steeling system completely failed. The car has to be towed to BMW dealership for repair. It was identified that the steeling issue was caused by premature failure of the BMW electronic power steering system.;
2024 BMW I7 Complaints
[XXX] Problem: Multiple tire blowouts causing safety hazards and air-suspension damage Complaint Summary: My 2024 BMW i7 has experienced multiple tire blowouts, including the most recent , two within days of each other (12/8/2025 and 12/10/2025). On 12/8/2025, BMW replaced the right rear tire and advised me that the vehicle was safe to drive. Two days later, the left rear tire suffered the same sudden failure, requiring another tow. These failures occurred during normal driving and immediately after BMW dealership inspection and clearance. In addition to these recent events, earlier blowouts on this vehicle have already caused damage to the air-suspension system, requiring repairs. This indicates the issue is not normal tire wear but a recurring safety defect involving the vehicle’s weight, load distribution, tire load rating, or compatibility with the i7’s unusually high curb weight. The repeated failures and resulting suspension damage raise concerns about a broader defect in the design, load-bearing capability, or inspection procedures for this model. This vehicle is unsafe to operate, and the recurring blowouts place my family and other motorists at risk. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the BMW i7 has a systemic safety issue related to tire integrity, load capacity, or suspension stress under normal driving conditions. 2025 BMW IX Complaints
The contact owns a 2025 BMW IX. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The contact depressed the brake pedal to avoid a crash and the vehicle eventually returned to normal operation. The failure had occurred on several occasions. A dealer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.;
