Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025 Tucson, 2025-2026 Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, and 2026 Genesis GV70 vehicles. The side curtain air bags may not have been installed properly, which can cause the air bags not to deploy as intended.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 258 units affected.

Description:: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025 Tucson, 2025-2026 Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, and 2026 Genesis GV70 vehicles. The side curtain air bags may not have been installed properly, which can cause the air bags not to deploy as intended.
Consequeces:: Side curtain air bags that do not deploy as intended increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will reinstall the side curtain air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 29, 2025. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 289 and 029G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on November 22, 2025.

2025 HYUNDAI TUCSON HYBRID Complaints
All four factory Nexen tires on my brand new 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid have shown rapid and uneven wear between 5,000 and 11,000 miles. The vehicle feels unstable, with alignment-like behavior. A Nexen preferred dealer suggested a possible tire defect. Hyundai Consumer Affairs and the dealership have not coordinated a proper warranty inspection, and I was asked to pay $189.99 for diagnosis even though the issue was documented early under warranty. I am concerned this may be a safety-related defect affecting other vehicles.(my 1st request to Hyundai since march 2026 all emails and conversations documented);
2026 GENESIS GV70 Complaints
On August 1, 2026, the right rear passenger door of our Genesis GV70 opened while we were traveling approximately 75 mph, approximately 25 minutes into our drive. We purchased the vehicle new on March 20, 2026. During the approximately 25 minutes of driving before the incident, we received no door-open or door-ajar warning. The warning first occurred when the door physically opened, providing no advance indication that the door might not be secure and no opportunity to stop before it opened. My daughter was seated beside the right rear door and was leaning against it when it opened. She had to grab the door and physically hold it shut. This created an immediate risk of serious injury to an occupant at highway speed. My safety complaint concerns both the door opening while the vehicle was moving and the timing of the door-warning system’s activation. I cannot determine whether the door was improperly latched before the incident, whether the latch failed during the drive, or whether a sensor or other component malfunctioned. What we observed is that no warning was provided during the preceding drive; the warning activated only when the door opened. We delivered the vehicle to the dealership on August 4, 2026. The dealership has retained it for investigation but has stated that it cannot duplicate the door incident. We have not been provided with an identified cause or a confirmed repair addressing the door opening and warning behavior. We have also reported recurring electronic problems and supplied the dealership with videos documenting those issues. I request that NHTSA investigate the door-latching mechanism and associated door-warning system, including whether an unsafe door condition can remain undetected or unreported until the door opens while driving.;
2026 HYUNDAI SANTA CRUZ Complaints
The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "You May Want to Consider Taking a Break" was displayed with an audible alert nine times during a thirteen-mile trip, causing a distraction. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the Lane Departure feature was built into the computer system and was unable to be disabled. The failure mileage was approximately 5.;
2026 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HYBRID Complaints
The Driver Attention sensor cannot be turned off. In a recent trip it engaged a dozen times over a one hour ride, a ride I was completely fully alert for. I find the warning itself to be a safety issue and very distracting while I'm trying to drive and follow a map to have it constantly be going off. A simple software update to provide ability to turn it off would resolve this and there are hundreds of similar complaints about this that I can find in message boards. Unacceptable.;
