Chrysler is recalling certain 2025 Ram 2500 Pickup

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2025 Ram 2500 Pickup, 3500 Pickup, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis trucks. A software error in the occupant restraint controller module may cause the driver's side air bag and/or seat belt pretensioner not to deploy in a crash and disable the electronic stability control (ESC) system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 52,565 units affected.

Description:: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2025 Ram 2500 Pickup, 3500 Pickup, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis trucks. A software error in the occupant restraint controller module may cause the driver's side air bag and/or seat belt pretensioner not to deploy in a crash and disable the electronic stability control (ESC) system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."
Consequeces:: Driving with a disabled electronic stability control system increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, a driver's side air bag or seat belt pretensioner that does not deploy increases the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will update the occupant restraint controller module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 15, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is C3C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on December 19, 2025.

2025 RAM 2500 Complaints
Driving by myself with no load at 12:15 in the afternoon with outside temperature at 80 degrees. Vehicle started to make a large screeching sound coming from engine bay. I pulled over into a parking lot and shut off engine. Vehicle continued to make screeching sound from engine bay; I opened hood to a billowing smoke that smelled like an electrical fire. Noise and significant smoke continued for several minutes with engine off and ignition in off position.;
2025 RAM 3500 Complaints
The contact owns a 2025 Ram 3500. The contact stated that shortly after purchasing the vehicle brand new and filling the fuel tank on December 3, 2025, the DEF depth gauge failed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the module was reprogrammed and the physical gauge was replaced. However, the contact obtained internal service notes revealing that the urea pump, the DEF tank, the urea tank wiring harness, the DEF injector, and the fluid had actually been replaced due to an active fuel leak within the DEF system. On March 31, 2026, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer to address a malfunctioning digital rearview mirror. While at the dealer, a recall repair was performed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V882000 (Air Bags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC)). The digital mirror was replaced; however, the failure recurred immediately. In May 2026, the vehicle was returned to the dealer for the ongoing mirror issue; however, the service notes only indicated that a part adjustment was performed, and the defect persisted. The contact then took the vehicle to a second dealer to repair the digital mirror and address the DEF system, as the warning light had re-illuminated on the instrument panel. During this visit, the second dealer performed a recall repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V059000 (Exterior Lighting, Electrical System). While the dealer claimed to have serviced both the DEF warning light and the mirror, the mirror failure remained unresolved. After spending a cumulative month at the dealer, the vehicle was diagnosed with an illuminated check engine light caused by a recurring DEF-contaminated fuel leak. The dealer replaced the entire DEF assembly, including the fuel system components, and cleared the DTCs. In July 2026, the vehicle was returned to the dealer yet again for another digital mirror replacement, which failed to resolve the issue. The contact believed there was an inherent manufacturing flaw at the top of the fuel tank causing the repeated DEF system failures. The vehicle was not repaired.;
2025 RAM 5500 Complaints
Vehicle was hit hard on the front & left, totalling the truck. None of the air bags activated.;
