Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Tucson Hybrid, Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV), 2026 IONIQ 5, Santa Cruz, Kona, Palisade, Palisade Hybrid, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, Sonata, Sonata Hybrid, and Tucson vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 41,651 units affected.

Description:: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Tucson Hybrid, Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV), 2026 IONIQ 5, Santa Cruz, Kona, Palisade, Palisade Hybrid, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, Sonata, Sonata Hybrid, and Tucson vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."
Consequeces:: An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: The instrument panel display software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 24, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai's customer service at 855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 293. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 28, 2026.

2026 HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 Complaints
I am reporting a suspected safety defect involving inconsistent deceleration behavior in my 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5. I regularly use Hyundai’s i-PEDAL one-pedal-driving mode. In this mode, releasing the accelerator produces strong regenerative deceleration and can bring the vehicle to a stop. However, the vehicle does not retain this selected driving behavior after it is turned off and restarted. It reverts to a mode requiring substantially more use of the brake pedal. The behavior also changes in connection with shifting into reverse. In a Costco parking lot in [XXX], I stopped near the customer pickup area while using i-PEDAL. I briefly turned off the vehicle while a passenger loaded groceries. When I restarted and began moving, I expected the strong accelerator-release deceleration the vehicle had provided immediately before shutdown. Instead, the vehicle continued moving because i-PEDAL had been reset. A crosswalk ahead contained pedestrians, and I had to apply the brake pedal to avoid striking them. No collision or injury occurred, but this was a serious near-miss. The concern is not simply that the vehicle offers different regenerative-braking settings. The safety concern is that a driver-selected setting that materially affects accelerator-release deceleration changes automatically after a brief shutdown or simply backing up. A driver who has adapted to i-PEDAL may reasonably expect the vehicle to decelerate as it did moments earlier. The regeneration level should be set and remain as the driver prefers, not reset on each start or backup of the vehicle. I request that NHTSA evaluate whether this inconsistent default behavior creates an unreasonable risk of unintended vehicle movement or pedestrian collisions and whether the vehicle should retain the selected mode or provide a prominent warning requiring driver acknowledgment whenever the deceleration behavior changes. 2026 HYUNDAI KONA Complaints
I purchased this vehicle new on July 28, 2026. NHTSA Recall 26V-452 / Hyundai Recall 306 was dated July 13, 2026, and the VIN showed the recall as incomplete when I discovered it. The dealer states that it was unaware of the recall at the time of sale. I am reporting this to document that a new vehicle was delivered to me while this safety recall was unrepaired. I intend to have the recall repair completed.;
2026 HYUNDAI PALISADE Complaints
With 2100 miles on the Hyundai Palasade Calligraphy Hybrid, we were driving on a well established dirt and gravel road when we experienced a loud pop or bang. We saw nothing in the road ahead in the form of a pot hole or protruding rock, etc. A minute later, a low tire pressure warning light came on. The tire went flat. Upon close inspection there was a cut like slit in the tire just below the bead line of the wheel rim. A look back on the road traveled, produced no clear obstruction that might have caused this. Our assessment of this is a sidewall blowout. This new vehicle comes with no spare tire. Only a pump and container of sealant. Installation of this failed to restore the tire for obvious reasons. This Pirelli 265 45R21 Scorpion MS tire is rare and not in stock anywhere. We had to tow our vehicle 50 miles to a Hyundai dealer who told us we had to wait for them to order a tire. We have spent close to $400.00 in Expenses and still did not pay for a tire yet. Searching the web reveals similar problems with this tire. This has resulted in a negative customer experience with the vehicle and Hyundai alike.;
2026 HYUNDAI PALISADE HYBRID Complaints
I was on the highway and I hit the Cruise Control to engage “smart adaptive cruise control.” I received a warning light that said “Conditions for smart cruise control not met.” The car immediately began to decelerate. I could see that the light for the cruise control was still on. I hit the cruise control button again to turn it off- and it kept giving the same warning again and again (noted above). Meanwhile, the car was beginning to decelerate rapidly. I went from 65mph to 35mph in a matter of seconds while on the highway. I immediately put on my hazards and made my way to the shoulder where I stopped the car, restarted it, and was able to resume driving normally without incidence. I am not using cruise control anymore until this is resolved.;
2026 HYUNDAI SANTA CRUZ Complaints
The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "You May Want to Consider Taking a Break" was displayed with an audible alert nine times during a thirteen-mile trip, causing a distraction. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the Lane Departure feature was built into the computer system and was unable to be disabled. The failure mileage was approximately 5.;
