Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2025 EX30 vehicles. The high voltage battery may experience a short circuit and overheat.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 161 units affected.

Description:: Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2025 EX30 vehicles. The high voltage battery may experience a short circuit and overheat.
Consequeces:: A high voltage battery that overheats increases the risk of a fire.
Corrective action:: Owners are advised to limit their charge to a maximum of 70% until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will inspect and replace the battery modules as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed August 20, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Car’s customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on February 23, 2026. This recall replaces and expands previous NHTSA recall number 26V001.

On July 28, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., I was stopped in my 2025 Volvo EX30 at the intersection of Laurel Avenue and Mount Pleasant Avenue in Livingston, New Jersey. When the light turned green, I applied the accelerator normally. The vehicle unexpectedly surged/lurched forward and struck another vehicle. After the accident, the tow-truck operator reported that the Volvo lurched forward three or four additional times while he was attempting to load it onto the truck. He reported that this behavior did not occur while unloading it in reverse. Volvo subsequently inspected the vehicle and retrieved electronic data. Volvo states that the data showed full accelerator-pedal input and that the vehicle operated as designed, but it has not provided me with the underlying data, technical report, extraction records, or supporting documentation. I dispute that I intentionally applied full acceleration. Police body-camera footage may also show the vehicle lurching while it was being handled after the collision. I am reporting this because the repeated behavior raises a serious potential unintended-acceleration or accelerator-control safety issue.;
