Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Ford Bronco and 2021-2024 Ford Edge vehicles. The Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) may overheat and shutdown, which can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying as intended.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 849,310 units affected.

Description:: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Ford Bronco and 2021-2024 Ford Edge vehicles. The Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) may overheat and shutdown, which can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying as intended.
Consequeces:: A rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: The APIM software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2026. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S09. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 5, 2026.

Vehicle Information Year: 2024 Make: Ford Model: Edge VIN: [XXX] Description of the Safety Issue I am submitting this complaint regarding the unexpected failure of the panoramic glass roof on my 2024 Ford Edge. The vehicle was parked in my residential driveway. As I began backing out of the driveway, I heard a very loud explosion or bang. I immediately stopped and inspected the vehicle. I discovered that the panoramic glass roof had shattered outward. There had been no collision, no rollover, no object striking the vehicle, and no severe weather. The vehicle had simply been sitting in my driveway before I began backing out. The interior sunshade was closed at the time of the incident. After the glass shattered, a substantial amount of broken glass remained on top of the closed sunshade and around the roof opening. I also observed that there was essentially no broken glass in my driveway, which suggests the glass failed from within the panel rather than from an external impact. This sudden failure occurred without warning and created a significant safety concern. Had this happened while I was driving at highway speeds with passengers in the vehicle or with the sunshade open, the results could have been much more dangerous due to falling glass and the driver's distraction. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this incident to determine whether similar failures are occurring in 2024 Ford Edge vehicles and whether this represents a potential safety defect involving panoramic sunroofs. 2026 FORD BRONCO SPORT Complaints
I was stranded on the side of the road due to a routine tire puncture on the morning of Sept. 5, 2026. I immediately called AAA for emergency roadside assistance. AAA explicitly informed me that their safety policy prevents them from plugging tires on the roadside, however they offered to change the flat out for my spare tire. When I went to the trunk to look for the spare tire, I discovered that there was no spare tire, wheel jack or lug wrench in the vehicle. The manufacturer had entirely omitted this essential safety equipment, replacing it with a chemical sealant and inflator kit. Realizing I was stranded in a dangerous area with zero physical means to replace the wheel left me immediately shocked, frightened and highly vulnerable on a busy road. The inadequacy of this setup was later validated by the dealership’s manager who admitted he suffered the exact same issue in a similar Ford vehicle and had to pay more than $500 out of pocket because the inflator kit failed him. He also informed me Ford is not the only company to implement this seriously flawed equipment elimination policy. Substituting liquid foam for a physical wheel assembly under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards is a critical public safety hazard that leaves motorists defenseless.;
