General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, and GMC Sierra 3500 vehicles with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks (RPOs L8T and N2N). The rear fuel pump may not transfer adequate fuel to the front tank, causing an engine stall.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 11,807 units affected.

Description:: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, and GMC Sierra 3500 vehicles with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks (RPOs L8T and N2N). The rear fuel pump may not transfer adequate fuel to the front tank, causing an engine stall.
Consequeces:: An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: The vehicle's engine control module (ECM) will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262544420. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 5, 2026.

2026 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 Complaints
My 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with the 6.6L Duramax diesel has experienced three separate P2463 Diesel Particulate Filter excessive soot accumulation events at approximately 4,300, 5,500, and 10,280 miles. Each event required a Chevrolet dealer to perform a forced regeneration to restore normal operation. The most serious event occurred while towing an approximately 15,000-pound loaded dump trailer on a public county road. While climbing a hill, the truck entered reduced-power/limp mode associated with the emissions/DPF system. Power was reduced so severely that the truck could no longer continue uphill and came to a stop in the travel lane. This created a safety hazard because the road was narrow and winding, with no safe place to pull off. I had to back the truck and loaded trailer several hundred yards downhill while traffic was present behind me. Before the event, the truck displayed “Continue Driving, Cleaning Exhaust Filter.” The warning did not state that severe power reduction or loss of towing capability was imminent. I did continue operating the vehicle, but the truck was being used for normal commercial towing/work operations where immediate highway-speed driving was not practical. The issue has been confirmed by Chevrolet dealers through DTC P2463 on multiple visits. The only correction performed has been forced regeneration. I was advised that no failed component was identified and no permanent repair has been performed. The vehicle is available for inspection, and repair records are available. My concern is that the emissions-related derate strategy can cause sudden and severe loss of motive power while towing on public roads, leaving the vehicle unable to maintain forward movement or safely clear the travel lane. This has occurred repeatedly during normal work use, not as a one-time event, and the warning provided did not give a clear indication that the truck could soon become unable to tow or maintain forward movement.;
2026 GMC SIERRA 3500 Complaints
The vehicle was delivered from the factory with a severe size mismatch between its primary rolling stock and its emergency spare tire. The truck features factory-installed 20-inch wheels and tires but was manufactured and shipped with an undersized 18-inch spare tire assembly secured underneath the bed. On a heavy-duty 3500-series truck built for heavy towing and hauling, utilizing a drastically different tire diameter during an emergency road event forces the rear differential and transfer case to spin at mismatched speeds. This creates an immediate risk of sudden mechanical drivetrain failure, loss of vehicle control, or compromised braking stability while operating under load on public highways. Consumers relying on factory equipment during emergency roadside scenarios should not be exposed to hidden mechanical hazards due to factory assembly omissions. Upon discovering the factory defect, the local dealership attempted remediation by supplying a shop take-off wheel and an aged, three-year-old tire (DOT 2223). This highlights that while individual dealerships scramble to fix these factory omissions with makeshift inventory, consumers purchasing new heavy-duty vehicles are still absorbing compromised, aged safety equipment due to lack of manufacturing quality control. I have also filed a complaint with GM and have requested immediate remediation with a correct new tire and wheel and am waiting for a response.;
