I have a 2002 Ford Explorer & I have had problems with the transmission, which the Ford Company I bought it from did replace the 3rd gear belt, but I still have problems with it. Plus the O2 sensor keeps burning up & I keep replacing it; 4 times now. The company I bought it from even changed one for me but I had to bring one in for them to do so. I was told, by a mechanic friend, that they should have known it is the catalytic converter causing the problems (I asked them several times if that was causing the problems but they told me it couldn't be - but those were the same words I heard from them when I was concerned about the transmission, to which they didn't even want to look at until I took my son [who is also a mechanic] went in with me - THAT is when they replaced the 3rd gear belt). I also have problems with the control panel that opens and shuts my sun roof, the ABS light has always popped on and off. I had an Explorer before I bought this one and it had tran

I've been a owner of Explores never experiences any issues with them -my problem all begin when- purchasing 2002 Ford explorer- I felt like Ive been dooped by Ford... I regret it each and every day...Ford Needs to repair this trucks before more lives are hurt or even killed.. . Fords failed design shouldn't come out of our pocket but theirs to correct these issues... Sorry Ford you lost another customer..

I'd like to add that John and I have both owned several ford vehicles and we both loved the look of ford but none of them have ever been mechanically sound vehicles! We have owned five mustangs between the two of us and they have been junk! I have owned three explorers and he has a ford f-250 king ranch now and was looking at a lincoln blackwood but when we trade we will be switching to GM! Honey I always wanted an escalade anyway!!! Let's get one! Forget Ford!!!!!

Yeah my wife is right we have an 02 explorer and it wasn't even having problems at all until she took it to Long-Lewis for the recall parts to be replaced. Now everything is wrong with it! I'm buying her a GM part next time! She just loved explorers until this and we were going to buy Haley (our daughter) a new mustang in march 2011 for her birthday but now we are buying something else (definately not a ford product)!!!

The recall on my 2002 explorer did more damage than good but now Ford is denying the problem and Christina who works for them says take it to a dealership for proper diagnosis which will cost whom? Me,is the answer to that question! I'm never buying another ford as long as I live I will tell every person I know to stay away from ford!!!!! They are by far the sorriest manufacturer and worst for customer complaint satisfaction I've ever seen! My dodge was recalled and the dealer fixed it with no problem and was nice when they did it! Long-Lewis of Corinth is instructed to lie to people about the speed control harness which ruined my ABS system completely the day after they installed the speed control part!!!! Ford is sorry!!!!! Go for dodge or chevy!!!!

Do you drive a 2002 FORD EXPLORER?

Just because a car has been recalled does not mean it is not a reliable car. Millions of cars get recalled every year. Recalls often involve problems that are rare but could cause a serious problem if they occur. So the risk to any given driver is often remote, even though there may be a few high-profile incidents traced to the problem.
