RECALL FOR POWER TRAIN : DRIVELINE : DRIVESHAFT
SOME PICKUP TRUCKS, VANS, AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A HYDRAULIC PUMP DRIVESHAFT THAT CAN FRACTURE, RESULTING IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. ON CERTAIN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HYDRO-BOOST POWER BRAKES, THE SAME CONDITION CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER ASSIST FOR BRAKING AFTER THE RESERVE PRESSURE IS DEPLETED.

AN INOPERATIVE PUMP CAN CAUSE INCREASED STEERING EFFORT, AND IN HYDRO-BOOST EQUIPPED VEHICLES ALSO INCREASED BRAKING EFFORT, BUT DOES NOT COMPLETELY ELIMINATE THE ABILITY TO STEER OR SLOW THE VEHICLE. |

I drive a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD and love it. Bought it with over 60,000 miles on it, now it has over 234,500 miles on it. It has only had to be towed twice. First time was fuel system. The 2nd time was the waterpump- over a year later. Its been a great truck and I'm going to see if it can handle me beating on it until it hits 300,000 miles
