Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (Cooper Tire) is recalling certain Discoverer, Evolution, Courser, Deegan, Adventurer, Hercules, Back Country, Multi-Mile Wild Country and Big O brand tires. The tires may develop a bulge or separation in the sidewall.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 430,298 units affected.

Description:: Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (Cooper Tire) is recalling certain Discoverer, Evolution, Courser, Deegan, Adventurer, Hercules, Back Country, Multi-Mile Wild Country and Big O brand tires. The tires may develop a bulge or separation in the sidewall.
Consequeces:: A sidewall separation may cause the tire to rapidly deflate, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Cooper Tire will notify owners, and dealers will replace affected tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 25, 2021. Owners may contact Cooper Tire customer service at 1-800-854-6288. Cooper Tire's number for this recall is 178.

COOPER DISCOVERER A/T3 Complaints
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 equipped with Cooper Discoverer A/T-3 tires, Tire Size: LT235/80/R17, DOT number: (UPAB1AU4513). While driving 65 MPH, the front passenger’s tire blew out. The blowout left a dent on the front passenger’s side door as well as damaged the front panel on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The tire was then replaced with the spare. A few hours later while driving 50 mph, the front driver’s side tire also experienced a blowout. The blowout also damaged the driver’s side door as well as the front driver’s side panel. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the tires were not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21T002000 (Tires). The tires were not replaced. The tire failure mileage was approximately 6,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 205,000.;
COOPER DISCOVERER AT3 4S Complaints
SIZE 265-70-18, TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON IH-20, TOWING A 13,000LB 5TH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILER. EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN CONTINUOUS VIBRATION AS IF THERE WAS A KNOT ON A TIRE. PULLED OFF OF ROAD AND DISCOVERED LEFT REAR TIRE HAD SEPARATED AND WAS OUT OF ROUND. TIRE DID NOT LOSE AIR PRESSURE, AND DID NOT BLOW OUT.;
COOPER DISCOVERER RTX Complaints
The contact’s father owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Discoverer Rugged Trek, Tire Size: 265/70/R16, DOT Number: (N/A). While the contact’s father was driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The contact’s father was able to regain control of the vehicle by releasing the accelerator pedal and allowing the vehicle to decelerate. The driver was able to pull over to the side of the road to inspect the vehicle. The driver became aware that the tread on the driver's side tire had separated, causing a portion of the tire near the seam to detach around the entire tire. The tire was a replacement tire. The driver replaced the tire with the spare. The contact sent an email to American Tire Depot where the tire was purchased. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 194,040, and the tire failure mileage was approximately 17,339.;
