Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2018 Ace, Axis, Hurricane

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2018 Ace, Axis, Hurricane, Windsport, and Vegas motorhomes. The wiring for the trailer lights may have been inserted into the wrong locations of the trailer lighting socket causing the trailer lights to not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 36 units affected.

Description:: Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2018 Ace, Axis, Hurricane, Windsport, and Vegas motorhomes. The wiring for the trailer lights may have been inserted into the wrong locations of the trailer lighting socket causing the trailer lights to not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequeces:: If the trailer lights do not function as intended, it can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Thor has notified owners and dealers will re-wire a new connector, free of charge. The recall began on November 21, 2017. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020. TMC's number for this recall is RC000148.

2018 THOR MOTOR COACH ACE Complaints
The contact owns a 2018 Thor Ace RV. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle suddenly veered to the right and the driver was no longer able to properly steer the vehicle. A mobile mechanic was called to the location and diagnosed that the front passenger’s side wheel bearing had failed and needed to be replaced. The mechanic stated that the wheel bearing failure was due to insufficient lubrication within the wheel bearing. The front passenger’s side wheel bearing and spindle were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was later taken to the local mechanic who discovered that the front driver’s side wheel bearing was also failing due to insufficient lubrication. The front driver's side wheel bearing was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,500.;
2018 THOR MOTOR COACH AXIS Complaints
2018 THOR AXIS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE WIPER ON THE DRIVER SIDE WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH TO COVER THE PROPER DISTANCE ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THE POST ON THE EITHER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVER'S VIEW WHEN TURNING. *JS;
2018 THOR MOTOR COACH HURRICANE Complaints
In November 2022 we discovered that both brackets holding the front nose piece to the frame had broken away. Then we discovered the wall on the front passenger side of the Motorhome had pulled away from the floor and left an inch gap between the floor and the wall. We were able to temporarily fix it until we arrived home and it sits in our driveway. Thinking maybe the broken brackets had caused the problem we removed the trim on both sides of the front. On the passenger side we found the screws were all broken off or pulled through the wall. On the drivers side it looks like it had already been fixed once, it was full of holes and there were two different types of screws. Watching a video of a similar fix on a Thor Challenger, whose drivers side wall pulled away he said according to Thor the screws should be 4 inches apart. The screws on our Hurricane we about 8 to 10 inches apart. I’ve included pictures of the broken brackets, and the opening between the floor and wall. The program wont let me include more than 3 pictures, but I have pictures of the holes on the walls we found after taking the trim down and the broken screws. I also have a video of the wall moving as we are driving down the road. We called Thor and they said our motorcoach is out of warranty and there are no recalls on the Hurricane. I do know Thor has a recall for the same issue on a different model, but they said it doesn’t pertain to the Hurricane. If the fiberglass nose had fallen off, it would have caused a serious accident.;
2018 THOR MOTOR COACH VEGAS Complaints
1. Problem: main power (connect) switch doesn’t communicate It shows there is power to the coach but IT DOES NOT SHOW whether or not the main power is connected to the chassis (motor) battery. I have been stranded with a dead chassis battery because of Thor’s neglect to use a communicative power switch. Safety issue because one could be camping in an area without emergency start services because of this. 1. Thor is aware these improper power switches in the 2018 (and in other model years) are non communicative and can leave people stranded. Thor has admitted the 2018 switch is wrong and corrected the switch in the2022 models (I confirmed this at the dealer). They have admitted fault. 3. If owners of 2018 Vegas Models (and other model years using the uncommunicative switch as ours) can be left stranded - that’s risky and a safety issue. Thor tried to replace my power switch but found it too difficult (and possibly potentially more costly) and, as such, abandoned the replacement. One moment I was delighted about their concern for my safety and we’re replacing it, and then I was told they were abandoning the replacement because they deemed it too hard). Can you believe Thor doing such a thing? The dealer has confirmed this is risky and a safety issue. I now have an RV I’m scared to use feeling it may not start because the switch doesn’t communicate connection to the chassis. This totally unacceptable;
2018 THOR MOTOR COACH WINDSPORT Complaints
The contact owns a 2018 Thor Motor Coach Windsport. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving in cold temperatures, the windshield immediately became foggy. The defroster was activated but only the center vents operated as intended, while the far left and right vents failed to work as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the OE system had two hoses connecting to the distribution box and A/C, but had no way for air to reach the far right and left vents. The vehicle was repaired by modifying the system to direct the air to all the vents. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.;
