General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Chevrolet Express and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with a single, manual, rear climate control module (CCM). If the temperature is set to maximum heat or the mode knob is set to maximum floor vent and an electrical short occurs, components within the CCM may overheat.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 30,448 units affected.

Description:: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Chevrolet Express and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with a single, manual, rear climate control module (CCM). If the temperature is set to maximum heat or the mode knob is set to maximum floor vent and an electrical short occurs, components within the CCM may overheat.
Consequeces:: If the CCM overheats, there is an increased risk of a fire in the vehicle's headliner.
Corrective action:: GM will notify owners, and dealers will remove the electrical insulation from a wiring connector within the CCM to remove the fire risk, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18299.

2018 CHEVROLET EXPRESS CUTAWAY VAN Complaints
A safety recall has been issued for my 2019 Coachmen Leprechaun motorhome (VIN: [XXX] ) built on a GM chassis. The recalled component/system is the subject of an active manufacturer recall; the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I have attempted multiple times to complete the recall repair through General Motors. However, there is no Chevrolet/GM dealership within approximately 2.5 hours of our location in [XXX] that has the lift capacity required to service this motorhome. GM representatives confirmed that the repair must be completed at Dick Hannah Chevrolet in Sandy, Oregon. GM offered to cover towing to the dealer but stated the “reunite” transport (return of the vehicle to the owner) would be billed to us, leaving the consumer responsible for part of the logistics required to complete the recall. Because the recall cannot be performed locally, this situation leaves us without a practical way to complete the safety repair without incurring significant cost. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealership because there is no capable service facility in our region. Any warning symptoms or failure conditions related to the recall are UNKNOWN, as we are attempting to have the recall remedy performed before a failure occurs in order to avoid potential safety risks. 2018 GMC SAVANA Complaints
The contact owns a 2018 GMC Savana. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The oil pressure light was illuminated. After several attempts, the vehicle failed to restart. The Police Department was called, and the Officer helped to push the vehicle out of the roadway. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced, but the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed back to the residence and was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The repair was pending. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,634.;
