General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles previously recalled under 20V-142. Some of the vehicles in 20V-324 were not part of Recall 20V-142 but received defect parts during another service (typically during collision repair). The hood-latch striker wires on replacement hoods installed for Safety Recall 20V-142 may not have been heat-treated properly, possibly causing them to fracture.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 272 units affected.

Description:: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles previously recalled under 20V-142. Some of the vehicles in 20V-324 were not part of Recall 20V-142 but received defect parts during another service (typically during collision repair). The hood-latch striker wires on replacement hoods installed for Safety Recall 20V-142 may not have been heat-treated properly, possibly causing them to fracture.
Consequeces:: If a striker wire fractures, the hood may open unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hood assembly, free of charge. For hoods sold over the counter, dealers will contact customers with instructions for hood replacement. The recall began July 7, 2020. The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission was slipping and shifting hard. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V083000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was notified of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.;
2020 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500 Complaints
VIN: [XXX] Make/Model/Year: 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD, Duramax L5P, Allison 10L1000 Recall: N242454440 / N242454441 (NHTSA 24V797) Description: Vehicle had N242454440 completed May 2026 (TCM software update for harsh shift / wheel lockup). On XXX at 103k miles, vehicle exhibited same defect: harsh downshift 8th-9th gear, CEL on. Diagnosed as TCM failure per N242454441. Vehicle at O'Reilly Chevrolet Tucson since XXX (18 days out of service as of XXX). Dealer states TCM on national backorder, SPAC ticket opened, no ETA. Dealer denied courtesy transportation stating out of warranty at 103k, despite recall being federal safety recall with 15yr/150k special coverage. This is failure of remedy for safety recall that can cause momentary rear wheel lockup. No parts available, no transportation provided. What I want: GM to provide rental coverage and expedite TCM repair per recall obligations. 2020 GMC SIERRA 2500 Complaints
When I try to start my truck it comes up as service trailer brake control module and it has caused my truck battery to drain so I cant even crank my truck up.;
2020 GMC SIERRA 3500 Complaints
My truck has been exhibiting hard downshifting at certain speeds, when the powertrain loads up such as a grade change, and requires a downshift. I have complained about this issue to the dealership as early as 2022, and 33,185 miles. The dealership made me pay for a transmission $388.90 flush which did not resolve the issue. The problem has become progressively worse, to the point where the toll road transponder fell of my windshield during a recent harsh downshifting incident. At the same time there was an existing MIL and derating for a DEF heater and NOx sensor failure, so during a warranty visit I asked that this transmission issue be addressed. On Friday March 13, the dealership called and said they confirmed the hard downshifting, albeit not as extreme as I described. The technician said that the valvebody needs to be replaced. At the same time, they performed a TCM flash for the 10L1000 momentary wheel lockup recall. The dealership then said they could not get the truck to set a P0747 code, said that GM refuses to replace the faulty valve body, and recommended I take the vehicle home unrepaired, and to come back when the P0747 code is set. I requested they continue to drive the vehicle. Today March 20 the dealership called and said they could not get the code to set, and that I need to drive the truck and come back when the code appears, despite the truck exhibiting clear symptoms of a progressively wearing feed limit low valve. N242454441 does NOT seem to indicate a P0747 code is required to replace the valve body. This vehicle is not safe for towing a 20,000+lbs and GMC is refusing to repair a transmission with symptoms congruent with N242454441. The dealership still has possession of the vehicle and wants $360+ in diagnostic labor.;
