General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado vehicles equipped with a manual passenger seat. The front passenger seat may have a hook attachment that was not properly welded, allowing it to separate from the inboard track of the seat frame.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 1,631 units affected.

Description:: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado vehicles equipped with a manual passenger seat. The front passenger seat may have a hook attachment that was not properly welded, allowing it to separate from the inboard track of the seat frame.
Consequeces:: An improperly welded seat frame may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will inspect the front passenger seat and replace the cushion frame, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N222368320.

2022 CHEVROLET COLORADO Complaints
While driving our 2022 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 (VIN: [XXX]) through an active roadway intersection at approximately midnight, the vehicle experienced a sudden, uncommanded complete loss of motive power and stalled without advance warning. Our teenage daughter was driving, making the abrupt loss of power, steering assist, and vehicle control in live traffic especially dangerous for an inexperienced driver. The stalled truck had to be physically pushed out of active traffic lanes into a nearby gas station for safety and has required flatbed towing for all subsequent transport. In the days prior to failure, an intermittent, unidentifiable mechanical odor was noticed, but zero warning lamps, dashboard messages, or diagnostic trouble codes were displayed, and the vehicle drove normally until the sudden shutdown. At the scene, an OBD-II diagnostic scan pulled DTC P0019-00 (Crankshaft Position - Exhaust Camshaft Position Not Plausible Bank 2). An independent service center subsequently confirmed adequate, safe oil levels (ruling out oil starvation), and independent technicians confirmed catastrophic internal engine failure. The truck is currently at an authorized Chevrolet dealership undergoing formal diagnostics to determine the exact internal failure mechanism (including potential correlation to known bearing/valvetrain defect patterns under GM Bulletin 19-NA-256). 2022 GMC CANYON Complaints
The ignition key gets stuck in the ignition after shutting off the car. The key may not be removed from the ignition. The failure of the transmission shift control mechanism directly impacts the safe, mechanical operation of the vehicle's powertrain and transmission park-lock functions. The vehicle was taken to a local GM dealer and the problem was recreated. This is a known problem with the transmission shift control assembly for several model years (2020 - 2023). Also, there was a previous class action lawsuit (Jefferson & Riley class action settlement) which specifically covered a predefined list of early-generation model years (including the 2017–2019 GMC Acadia, 2019 Chevy Blazer, and 2016–2019 Malibu/Traverse/Volt). GM continued using similar microswitch shifters in newer vehicles like your my 2022 Canyon. I had no prior warning lamps but the symptoms occurred infrequently after I purchased the vehicle on March 29, 2023. I am the original owner of the vehicle and in July 2026 the problem became frequent - on an almost daily basis. I took the vehicle to my local GM dealer and I was initially told to use my spare key and see if that fixes it. In August 2026, I took it back to the GM dealer and insisted that a diagnostic be done, at which time they agreed that the transmission shift control assembly was faulty. My concern is that GM continued to use the same defective part in newer GM vehicles even though this part was previously determined to be defective in the Jefferson & Riley class action settlement.;
