Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021 AMG GLS63, 2020-2022 GLS450 and GLS580 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the locks on the third-row seatbacks may fail in the event of a crash.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 59,574 units affected.

Description:: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021 AMG GLS63, 2020-2022 GLS450 and GLS580 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the locks on the third-row seatbacks may fail in the event of a crash.
Consequeces:: A seat with a seatback lock failure may not properly restrain occupants, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will inspect and replace the third-row seatback, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2022. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2022100011.

AMENDMENT TO ACTIVE CASE 11723015. CRITICAL AIRBAG & SAFETY DEFECTS. This files a safety defect amendment to open case 11723015. Diagnostic scans confirm central data bus network collapse on VIN [XXX] has migrated into safety-critical occupant restraint and visibility modules, violating 49 U.S.C. § 30118. I. AIRBAG & RESTRAINT HAZARDS Scans from [XXX], document active faults: DTC U042782: "Implausible data received from Electronic Ignition Lock." The SRS module receives corrupted data from the failed ignition gateway, creating risk of airbag non-deployment. DTC B007A13: Passenger seatbelt pre-tensioner open circuit; occupants are unprotected against crash displacement. DTC B11FA4B: Active "Overtemperature" faults in heating elements indicate localized thermal short-circuit risk. II. HARDWARE DECAY Physical teardown confirmed structural oxidation on the central gateway motherboard and corroded connector pins. 48V battery has repeated failures where I'm driving. safety concern, When it fail, it will pop up warning1) only drive below 50 miles/hour; then it becomes2) stop vehicle immediately; then ) multi-media system suddenly shut off while I'm driving. I tested by 48V battery which only has below 60% health. with 4 error code all related to V48 battery and management system: B183214; B183216; B183217; B183371; 48V battery is under Emission control component warranty which has 5 years/50000miles in Federal for MediumDutyVehicle and 7 years/80000 in WA state. My car is listed as MediumDutyVehicle in Mercedes service book. Mercedes refused to replace my unhealthy battery. Mercedes Charging me diagnosis fees for failure of V48 Battery. this should be waived since the part is under warranty Mercedes refused to provide battery health report to me even I explicitly asked from them, they just cleared the code and told me my battery is fine;

Both rear wheels on this vehicle have developed cracks which leads to tire pressure loss. Apparently, this is a common issue with Mercedes' heavier vehicles like the GLS and S series sedans. To be clear, I did not hit anything. I did not do any unusual driving. Both rear tires are fine. While you expect that certain components on a vehicle will have problems, it is also reasonable to expect that wheels will not crack prematuraly. Mercedes is aware of the problems. They were named in a class action lawsuit that was dismissed because cars were out of warranty. Warranty or no warranty, this is a major safety issue as a loss in tire pressure can be catastrophic.;
2021 MERCEDES-BENZ GLS580 Complaints
The vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic 48V mild-hybrid electrical power supply breakdown and complete system failure while traveling at highway speeds during a cross-country move. The sudden failure forced an emergency lane change into an isolation zone just off the highway. The sudden failure left the cabin completely powerless with no operational safety systems, hazard lights, or air conditioning in extreme 100+ degree heat. This roadside isolation created an immediate physical hazard and directly inflicted acute heat exhaustion and severe dehydration, requiring a subsequent emergency clinical medical evaluation on July 5 for lingering environmental exposure symptoms. Subsequent forensic diagnostics performed at an authorized secondary dealership (Mercedes-Benz of North Scottsdale) captured digital video evidence of active, high-voltage 48V electrical arcing across a completely loose, un-torqued main grounding network connection left by a prior repair facility (Mercedes-Benz of Syracuse) during a major warranty engine removal repair just 7 days prior. Secondary dealer diagnostics officially logged this internal structural failure under factory tracking as Damage Code 5482G388. The loose connection created an active, immediate thermal and fire hazard capable of igniting nearby fuel or fluid lines. The original repairing facility deflected liability, claiming the high-voltage ground studs 'loosen due to many reasons' on an asset with no prior electrical faults. This creates a severe ongoing fire, thermal, and crash risk for this model year's 48V electrical system architecture.;
