Volvo Car USA, LLC is recalling certain 2023 S60

Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2023 S60, V60, V60CC, V90CC, XC60, XC90, XC40, and C40 vehicles. A diagnostic error in the Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) may cause a loss of Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control.

The recall was influenced by the manufacturer with about 27,457 units affected.

Description:: Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2023 S60, V60, V60CC, V90CC, XC60, XC90, XC40, and C40 vehicles. A diagnostic error in the Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) may cause a loss of Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control.
Consequeces:: A reduction in brake support functions can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Volvo will release an over-the-air (OTA) BCM2 software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 15, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10217.

2023 VOLVO C40BEV Complaints
Persistent steering wheel vibration at highway speeds (60-80 mph), present from the first drive within two hours of taking delivery of this Certified Pre-Owned vehicle on April 14, 2026 at 21,075 miles. No warning lamps or messages. The vibration is constant at highway speed, not intermittent, causing driver fatigue and distraction during sustained highway driving. This is a known defect documented in Volvo Technical Journal TJ 36752.3.0, classified under function group 4661 (drive shaft). Kline Volvo of Maplewood, MN confirmed the vibration and performed the TJ-prescribed repairs: tire balancing, tire replacement, and driver's airbag module replacement containing an oscillation damper. Volvo's own TJ notes this repair only "lessens" the vibration. The vibration improved but in my assessment has not been fully resolved. A second Volvo dealer's service manager independently acknowledged the issue and consulted Volvo's regional service representative, who confirmed no further fix is currently available beyond the TJ repair. I have escalated to Volvo executive leadership in writing and am awaiting response. The vehicle is available for inspection.;
2023 VOLVO S60 Complaints
I received a previous recall notice for the backup camera not working and visited the dealership on August 19, 2025 to recieve the software update that was supposed to fix this problem. Since receiving the fix, I have continued to have the same intermittent interruption of the backup camera as I was having before the "fix". I do not believe the software fix helped the issue and this feels like an underpowered hardware issue.;
2023 VOLVO V60CC Complaints
The contact owns a 2023 Volvo V60CC. The contact stated that while driving approximately 52 MPH, the vehicle drove over a small bump on the road, causing the front driver’s side seat belt to tighten and pull the contact closer to the seat by the neck after locking. The contact stated that the seat belt left a bruise on the neck after several seconds when the vehicle returned to normal operation. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.;

2023 VOLVO V90CC Complaints
I ordered this vehicle brand new in October 2022. I took delivery May 1, 2023. The problem presented itself instantly the first moment I drove the car at night. On low beams, the headlights project a very large "V" that is cut out of the upper left hand corner of the projected headlight beam. This creates a very distracting and absolutely very dangerous driving condition. The easiest way to explain this is as follows: 1) in foggy conditions, the headlights cast a triangular voided area into the foggy road ahead and the voided out area will move all over the place if you turn on the headlight turning feature. 2) in normal night conditions there is a constant voided out area in the upper left hand corner of the light beam. 3) when driving up hill at nighttime, the headlight beam will aim lower because of the fact you the car is accelerating uphill, when this occurs the voided out area I talk of gets exponentially larger and becomes not only violently dangerous, it is crazy anoying and distracting. The car can be seen anytime at my personal address. The problem has been reproduced at Alan Byer Volvo in Syracuse NY. They have a video of it and have told me that because the car is produced in such small volume they have no way of comparing it to another vehicle and therefore are unable to help me. There are no warning lamps that have ever come up on the car which now has 9500 miles on it.;
