Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2020-2023 Genesis GV80

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Genesis GV80, 2021-2023 Genesis G80, 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, and 2023 Genesis GV60 vehicles. In the event of a crash, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment.

The recall was influenced by the Office of Defects Investigation with about 65,517 units affected.

Description:: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Genesis GV80, 2021-2023 Genesis G80, 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, and 2023 Genesis GV60 vehicles. In the event of a crash, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment.
Consequeces:: An exploding seat belt pretensioner can project metal fragments into the vehicle, strike vehicle occupants, and result in injury.
Corrective action:: Dealers will secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. For GV60 owners, Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 14, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 012G. This recall supersedes and expands recall number 21V-796. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 21V-796 will need to have the new remedy completed.

2023 GENESIS G80 Complaints
My car was diagnosed with burnt wiring causing the Complete front wiring harness needing replaced. The Company Genesis don’t want to repair/fix the problem or the Warranty company. The Service Manager Mr. Daryl has said this is a manufacturing defect issue. They have repaired several on this particular vehicle and somebody should cover it. If anything happens to me, I am suing or my Family will. Burnt wiring can cause a fire.;
2023 GENESIS GV60 Complaints
A/C compressor not coming on when cabin A/C does. This means it is also not coming on to cool the battery, which could prevent proper battery thermal management, raising safety and performance risks in hot climates. A/C compressor and inverter have been replaced without resolving the issue. It has been to two dealerships that independently diagnosed the problem as the A/C compressor. The car is currently at Allen Turner Genesis in Pensacola, FL so it should be available for inspection. There were no warning lamps illuminated.;
2023 GENESIS GV70 Complaints
My AC in my 2023 GV 70 stopped working. Apparently this is a known defect but I was never notified. Im currently in NC, 3 hours from my home in [XXX] where the heat index is 110 degrees. Now i have to drive home to get service without AC. I reached out to the dealer four times today including the service manager, service coordinator and Anthony the GM but no one has returned my call. I called Genesis customer service and their response was “sorry no appointments until late next week and we have no loaners until late September”. Clearly, no one at Genesis at the dealer level or corporate cares enough to help me solve this problem so I am forced to find an independent mechanic who can work on my vehicle and rent my own car until it’s repaired. This is completely unacceptable especially for a luxury vehicle. First, not being notified of a problem Genesis has known about for a long time so i could repair it before it’s become a calamity (where i am now). Second, no one cares enough to help me solve their defective parts problem! I expect Genesis to pay for both the repairs and my rental plus any additional out of pocket expenses. 2023 GENESIS GV80 Complaints
At approximately 68k miles, I observed hesitation when pulling away from a stop in our 2023 GV80 2.5t AWD Prestige. At 71,300 miles, we observed an increasing howling noise from the rear of the vehicle, primarily at coasting, with various tones emitted during application and release of the accelerator pedal. The rear differential fluid was drained for inspection, and there were metal shavings accumulated on the drain magnet, discolored (metallic shavings) fluid, and visible shiny metal flakes in the drained fluid. The differential is close to total failure on this vehicle. Hyundai has issued a TSB, so it is known, but they are not recalling this extreme safety hazard that has been reported for several years across many owners. A quick search of various owner forums reveals this truth. Moreover, replacement differentials do not improve the issue, often having to be replaced themselves only a short time later.;
