Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2021-2022 Genesis G80

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Genesis G80, GV80, and 2022 Genesis GV70 vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.

The recall was influenced by the Office of Defects Investigation with about 19,272 units affected.

Description:: Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Genesis G80, GV80, and 2022 Genesis GV70 vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Consequeces:: A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective action:: Dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 8, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 016G.

2022 GENESIS G80 Complaints
The contact owns a 2022 Genesis G80. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, three seconds later the vehicle hesitated, and the vehicle lost power. The contact was able to turn off and restart the vehicle, and the vehicle started working as intended. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure only occurred in hot weather. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V282000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 33,171.;
2022 GENESIS GV70 Complaints
The vehicle experiences a dangerous 2-3 second 'dead pedal' delay during acceleration on hot restarts. When flooring the pedal to the floorboards, the vehicle fails to respond; it moves slowly. This was reported to Denville NJ Dealership on 8/27/26: dealer stated they test drove it could not replicate, and there were no stored codes. This was reported to Denville NJ Dealership and 4/2/26 and dealership reported they "believed" to be due to TCM communication error. This was reported by previous owner on 4/26/24 to Englewood, NJ Dealership and they could not duplicate.;
2022 GENESIS GV80 Complaints
The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the two local dealers had shut down, and the other authorized dealers were extremely far away. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was filed. The contact had not experienced a failure.;
