On June 30, 2026 at approximately 1:13 PM EDT, my wife was maneuvering with the transmission in Drive to park our vehicle in the lot of our home. While in Drive, the driver's seat unexpectedly moved backward on its own, consistent with the vehicle's "Easy Access" seat memory feature activating. This left her unable to reach the brake pedal, and the vehicle careened over the curb and struck a stationary pole, resulting in damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. Thankfully, neither the occupants of the vehicle, my wife and infant son, nor pedestrians were harmed. Had this occurred on the roadway, in front of a precipice or waterway, or any number of other locations, this failure could have resulted in death or serious bodily injury.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that upon start of the engine, the instrument panel had gone blank. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that an OTA(Over-The-Air) software update was performed which may have caused the failure. Approximately 20 minutes later, the instrument panel returned. Recently, the contact stated that the instrument cluster went blank and had never returned. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where they acknowledged the failure and informed the contact that the instrument panel had failed; the contact was given an estimate for the repair. Upon investigation, the contact was informed that a battery replacement may correct the failure; despite the battery replacement, the failure returned. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

I was driving my 2022 Genesis GV80 on Sunday April 5th, 2026 when the vehicle started to overheat. This is the second incident that happened due to the vehicle overheating. The first time reported was in December 2025 at a cost of $3400 out of pocket. Now I see this recall for a potential fire that can be caused by the manufacturer defect. This is very concerning, since the vehicle has been serviced since I purchased the Genesis as a gift to myself in November 2021. This does not sit well with me, with Genesis being a "Luxury" brand. I believe that I should have my vehicle repurchased by Genesis due to these mechanical manufacturer defects.

After a panic stop, back seat (opposite the driver seat) automatically collapsed. While I had it inspected at a Genesis dealership, hearing that Toyotas are experiencing a similar problem due to seat springs makes me wonder if that happened to my vehicle. Our small dog rides in this seat and would be crushed if the seat were to collapse.

Horn stopped working while trying to use on the highway. This is after the passenger headlight failed in July 2025. Why are these safety concerns not being addressed by the manufacturer?

Drivers side headlights started collecting condensation, after 2 weeks the daytime running lights stopped working. When driving thru rain the headlights stopped working and the LED warning light came on.We can’t comfortably drive in the rain or after dark without safe lighting. The local Genesis dealer inspected the issue and the manufacturer has offered to cover 1/2 the cost of replacement. The vehicle is 3 years old and while over the mileage for warranty this is an issue which should be covered 100% as it is a safety issue. The LED headlights should have a longer lifespan.
