Tire Complaints

These are OE tires on my 2023 Acura MDX. At 22,000 miles a rotating thumping sound was heard and also felt in the steering wheel. The tires were inspected by my Acura dealer on three separate service calls to diagnose. On the 3rd visit the problem was confirmed and determined to be severe flat spots on all 4 tires. Due to the flat spots, these tires are unbalanced and give off a vibration throughout the vehicle and steering wheel. The Acura dealer photographed the tires and filed a claim with Bridgestone. The claim was denied 11 weeks later. This unbalanced condition should be considered a safety issue, especially at high speed where a blow out is possible.

I own a 2025 Kia K5 GT-Line that was purchased new. I have experienced repeated loss of traction and vehicle stability while driving on wet roads. During normal low-speed turns on wet pavement, the rear of the vehicle can suddenly lose traction and slide sideways when I apply light acceleration. This has occurred multiple times. I am not accelerating aggressively or traveling at an excessive speed when it happens. The loss of rear traction can be sudden enough that I feel I am temporarily losing control of the vehicle. The ESC/traction control system is enabled and there are no warning lights displayed. Tire pressures have been checked and are approximately 33–34 PSI, and I have not observed abnormal tire wear or visible tire damage. The problem appears to occur primarily on wet pavement while turning and applying even light throttle. I am concerned that the vehicle could spin or cause a collision, particularly during normal rainy driving conditions. I am reporting this because the behavior has occurred repeatedly and I believe the unexpected loss of rear traction and stability may present a safety risk. I would like this complaint documented and evaluated for similar reports involving the 2025 Kia K5. 235/45 R18

This is the second tire of the four purchased in 2022 that have cracks in the sidewall (tread separation from sidewall). They are the Goodyear Assurance Maxlife 235/40R19 96V. No warning to the loss of tire pressure and the time it takes for the cracks to propagate. When I brought the first tire back to Sam's Club (where I originally purchased the tires), the replacement was prorated based on tire wear. No indication that there was a defect on the replaced tire, and more importantly, no inspection or concern that the replacement left three remaining defective tire on the vehicle.

On [XXX], the Walmart Auto Care Center on Thomasville Rd in Tallahassee, FL installed four Goodyear Reliant All-Season tires, size 235/45R18 94V (standard load), on my 2021 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus (approximately 75,000 miles). The vehicle's door placard specifies 235/45R18 at 42 PSI cold, and the original-equipment specification for this vehicle is 235/45R18 98 XL (extra load). The installed tires carry a lower load index (94 = 1,477 lbs per tire) than the vehicle requires (98 = 1,653 lbs per tire). The tires were delivered underinflated at approximately 35-37 PSI instead of the placard-required 42 PSI cold. After I inflated them to 42 PSI, the right-rear tire initially would not hold pressure and dropped to approximately 31 PSI, indicating a bead-seating or valve defect from installation; it later accepted 42 PSI but requires monitoring. My normal commute involves sustained highway driving at 70+ mph. Operating at highway speeds on tires rated below the vehicle manufacturer's specified load index, combined with underinflation and a suspected bead/valve installation defect causing pressure loss, creates a risk of heat buildup, tread separation, or sudden blowout and loss of vehicle control. Walmart did not correct the installation: staff attempted to install only three of the four correct replacement tires and later told me to purchase an additional tire at my own expense. I declined both. No crash, fire, injury, or police report resulted. The tires remain on the vehicle pending resolution. This complaint documents the safety hazard created by the incorrect tire fitment and defective installation. The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln MKT equipped with Nokian Tires, Tire Line: Nokian One HT, Tire Size: 255/45/R20, DOT Number: T431312. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was driving abnormally rough. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that all four tires had cracks in the center tread. The contact stated that some of the cracks were excessive. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic where the tires were purchased, and all four tires were replaced. The tire failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 103,937.

The tires which are 245/40/19 on a 2025 BMW 230I are wearing so bad.They are chopped on the front very bad and the ends on the right side of vehicle which does have suspension issues but the tires are horrible

The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Tundra equipped with Falken Tires, Tire Line: Wildpeak A/T3WA, Tire Size: 265/60/R20, DOT Number: [XXX]. The contact stated that all four tires were prematurely worn, with the steel belts visible. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the tread wear failure was characteristic of the type vehicles due to the factory alignment configuration, allowing for the abnormal wearing of the tires. The dealer was notified of the failure but declined to assist. The contact stated that the TPMS warning light was illuminated. The contact was notified by the manufacturer that there was a TSB for the failure; however, the vehicle was not included in the repair. The vehicle failure mileage was 38,000. I purchased a 2025 Volvo XC60 new. It has 18,000 miles on the car. The tires were on the vehicle when purchased. The tires are Pirelli 255/40 RZ1 102 V Mts. DOT IXB RM 582P 1424. The front driver side tire has huge chucks of rubber missing on the tread. This issue is getting worse over time. I purchase a new tire and was told that Pirelli "may reimburse" me for the tire. This tire is a safety hazard. Volvo is aware of this issue however, they contiue to sell vehicles with know issues.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Malibu equipped with Firestone Tires, Tire Line: FT140, Tire Size: P205/65/R16, DOT Number: 17X849C87. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware that the inside tread of the rear tires were shredded. Additionally, the failure had caused the outside tread to warp. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The tire failure mileage was approximately 9,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 59,994.

This is original Goodyear Eagle Touring tire on 2025 Lexus RX 350. It M+S 235/50R21 101V. There were no low tire pressure alerts before the blowout. I was entering a ramp of a freeway (XXX in [XXX]) and suddenly heard a loud noise. Unfortunately due to ongoing construction there is no shoulder or curb in the stretch of the road. Also it was dark; about 4:30AM. As a result I had to drive some a couple of miles before I could exit and part safely. By that time tire was shredded and wheel damaged.
