Tire Complaints

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Rav4 equipped with Firestone Tires, Tire Line: Destination LE2, Tire Size: 225/65/R17, DOT Number: [XXX]. The contact stated that while driving on [XXX], the red light illuminated and there was an abnormal rumbling sound. The contact pulled over at the exit and became aware that the outside circumference of the tire was shredded on the driver’s side rear tire. The tread was in good working order. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where all four tires were replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact about rebates on the tires. I was driving down the highway, roughly 60mph, when my yellow tire pressure warning light came on. The car did not feel any different while driving. I drove for another 5-10 mins when suddenly my car jerked to the left. I let off the gas and slowed to a safe spot to park. That was when I started to smell burning rubber, after I parked I got out and that was when I noticed I was riding on the rim with no tire. Tire is 255/45/R19

I leased and then bought a new 2020 Altima in 11/19 with 4 Continental tires. On 8/27/26 I saw a hole and fissures in the sidewall of the right-rear tire (Continental Pro Contact TX 215 / 55 R 17. All 4 tires had 7/32 wear on 11/30/25 and were rotated front to back. Threads are good.

On a high-speed highway (Route 14), the vehicle suffered a sudden flat tire/air loss event, forcing an emergency pull-off onto a narrow shoulder with 65 mph traffic. Subsequent inspection revealed the failed tire and the rest of the set were manufactured in late 2007 (DOT code 4907). These 19-year-old tires were installed by a professional tire shop despite being far beyond their safe service life. Component/System Failed: Tires (Set of 4). Tire Size: 255/50 R20 (Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme, DOT 4907). Available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: Sudden tire failure at highway speeds created immediate loss-of-control risks and exposed occupants to high-speed semi-truck traffic on a narrow shoulder. Confirmation/Inspection: DOT date code 4907 confirmed by visual inspection. The installing tire shop was notified and acknowledged the sale/installation. Not yet inspected by manufacturer or law enforcement. Warning Signs: No warning lights, pressure drops, or symptoms occurred prior to failure. UNKNOWN if internal tread separation preceded deflation.

Purchased set of 4 Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring 195/65R1591H tires on 26 Jun 2026 @ 48,847 miles on the odometer. Three of the tires had the same serial number of U9AE1CR2622, with the 4th of U9AE1CR4822. Brought car in for service on 20 Oct 2025 @ 65,340 due to a slow leak on the rear passenger and was informed the rear passenger and front driver tires had tread separation and needed replacing. The tires both had a serial number of U9AE1CR2622. Tires were replaced. 15 Aug 2026, the front driver tire (the remaining tire with the U9AE1CR2622 serial number; it had been rotated to that position during the 20 Oct 2025 service) the tire pressure indicator light came on and discovered a slight (~7 psi) drop and aired up to correct pressure. However the tread appears rounded as apposed to flat across like the other tires and have confirmed the tread has separated. The car is driven moderately on paved roads and does not sit for extended periods of times. The tread depth is still quite deep. I expected much more out of these tires and do not plan on buying Cooper again. I believe the Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring 195/65R1591H tires (and perhaps more specifically, the U9AE1CR2622 batch) is defective and dangerous.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season tires, size 255/35R20. I am requesting an immediate safety review and technical investigation regarding repeated failures of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season tires installed on my Jaguar XF. The vehicle is equipped with Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season tires, size 255/35R20. Three of the four tires from this set have now suffered serious failures involving sudden rapid air loss/blowouts and apparent tread or belt separation. On 8/24/26 this happened spontanously on I-35 going 70 mph causing an almost deadly crash. These have not been ordinary slow leaks. The failures have occurred suddenly and have created a serious safety concern. I am now extremely concerned about operating the vehicle on the fourth remaining matching tire. I have photographs of the remaining tire and can provide photographs via the service rep Joe@Jaguar and documentation regarding the previous failures, dealer repair/replacement records, mileage, tire pressures, and DOT/TIN information. Because three out of four tires have experienced serious failures, I am requesting that this matter be treated as an urgent potential safety-defect issue rather than simply as an individual road-hazard or routine warranty claim. The second failure was treated by Jaguar Dallas Darrick my service rep on July 14th , 2026(approx. 5 weeks earlier) with the first tire instance June 1, 2026. You can imagine how upsetting this is considering this happened twice while on I-35 going 70 mph. TWC is my tire warranty company and replaced the damaged wheel as well.

Purchased vehicle brand new 1/31/26. Went for my first tire rotation and oil change (4600 miles) on 8/24/26. Inspection found wires coming from the inside wall of tire (the interior portion of tire). Service advisor said it was not covered because it’s wear and tear. The damage is not on the tread. The damage is not on the exposed part of tire. I had to purchase a new tire and was advised by the installer that this is a manufacture defect.

The tire sidewall blew out. We were driving at 65 mph on an interstate highway in an urban area and had to change the tire in the triangular space between the highway lanes and an exit - very dangerous. These were sold as 60,000 mile tires, and this tire had 20,200 miles on it. It was maintained at proper pressure. Conditions were clear, dry, summer weather in Albuquerque, NM. The problem has not yet been confirmed by the service center, but we will be taking the damaged tire there because it is still under warranty. Tire size: 195 / 65 R 15

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Corolla equipped with Dunlop Tires, Tire Line: SP Sport 5000, Tire Size: 225/40/R18, DOT Number: 1EUT74MBR5024. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from each tire, and the tires were slick while driving in inclement weather. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that all four tires needed to be replaced due to uneven wear. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 8,000.

Tire pressure Sensor light was not on at time of incident. Purchased 7 months ago, Jan 16 2026, 3335 miles on the tire when the incident happened. Driving on a country road at 60 mph, i hear flopping coming from the rear. The tire separated from the sidewall on the inner side and folded outward extending pass the fender. Managed to pull to side and replace with spare. No one was called for assistance.
