The contact owns a Quadratec Q-Performance Stealth Series winch mounted on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while using the winch to pull a vehicle out of a ditch, the winch engaged independently and started to smoke, and the cable was also smoking. The contact was able to stop the winch and discontinued use. The contact researched and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20E067000 (Equipment). The manufacturer was contacted, but the contact was having difficulty in having the recall addressed. The manufacturer was called, and a voicemail was recorded, and an email was also sent. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The winch had not been used since the failure. The VIN was not provided.
