Motorcycle had a sudden engine knock causing catastrophic engine failure after going over a abutment. Issue found to be a broken connection rods. No warning lights, clear traffic, happened at 3:30 in the morning.

I purchased the bike in Feb 2023 and the fuel gauge has gone bad. Problem is wide spread with this and I have seen and documented people having the same issue with the whole line of their bikes. I believe since this was part of the gas tank and the tank could possibly leak where the float sensor connects to the tank itself, it should fall under the EPA warranty. At first they will going to honor my request to just replace the float switch inside. However, they have came back to me stating the bike is just out of warranty and refuse to cover the part. The bike would have to be taken to a authorized dealer which is more than an hour away from me. I tried speaking to them telling them that I called the dealer and they were really backed up and no able to take the bike in at the time (called in Oct of 2023) My 2 year warranty ended in December 23. However, at that time, I was told the bike is covered and not ending in December. However the shop still, up to this day, says that they are full on bikes atm and I would have to wait to bring it. This part is known to fail, aprilia knows its known to fail and it seems like this item should be recalled. It could lead to more issues down the road with the gas tank.

So just got the bike and i was driving home. I noticed an issue going into second gear. Bike would actually go into neutral. Ended up getting the bike home after somehow getting it into second. When I noticed that the teeth on the input shaft by the quick shift sensor looks kinda ate up. Come to find out multiple people have had this issue.

The motorcycle overheats to temperatures in excess of 250°f after being stuck in traffick for less than 10 minutes. the amount of heat under the gas tank is pretty scary. The warning lights go on but in order to avoid being burned you need to pull over and get off the motorcycle. Its a brand new $26,000 motorcycle with apparently a known issue with the radiator as well as the mix of fluid in the radiator. That's according to the dealer although i'm not getting straight answers from the Aprilia's headquarters in North America located in NYC (212) 380-4400. Over the last 3 weeks i've spoken to Aprilia 3 times and each time they tell me they're going to call me back but i never receive a call. The dealership in Charlotte NC, Team Charlotte Motorsports (704) 394-7301 says they can't get anywhere with the manufacturer either. Yet i counted no less than two of the same make and model that they're trying to sell knowing full well of the potential issue here. I really think you need to halt the sales of these motorcycles before someone gets hurt. any help here would be appreciated

The contact owns a 2022 Aprilia RS 660. The contact stated while riding at approximately 65 MPH, the engine began to vibrate violently, causing the motorcycle to be difficult to control. The contact stated that the motorcycle stalled and coasted to a stop on the side of the road. The contact stated that the oil warning light was illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the motorcycle several times however, there was no battery power, and the engine would not restart. The contact had the motorcycle towed to his residence and later he transported the motorcycle to a dealer. The motorcycle was taken to a local dealer who diagnosed and determined that there was no oil in the engine, causing the engine to seize. The motorcycle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V502000 (Engine). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,544.

Oil seal in the water pump was installed wrong from the manufacturer and caused the water pump to develop an oil leak with 156 miles on the odometer.

The contact owns a 2021 Aprilia RS660 motorcycle. The contact stated while riding at 80 mph on a closed track, the contact was approaching a left turn when attempting to brake but the electronic control unit of the braking system did not work which caused the motorcycle to cartwheel and crash landing on the contact from the right side. The contact fractured his collar bone and was taken by ambulance to the hospital for the injury. No police report was filed. The motorcycle was placed on the contacts trailer and was taken to their residence. The motorcycle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 1100. Invalid VIN.

The contact owns a 2021 Aprilia Motorcycle. The contact stated while riding 30 mph, the motorcycle abruptly stalled. The contact was able to restart the motorcycle and rode to the dealer. The contact had not received a diagnostic report. The contact stated that the motorcycle had been taken to the dealer for a recall repair on the same day that the failure occurred. The contact was not sure what recall repair was performed on the motorcycle. The motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 664.

The contact owns a 2021 Aprilia RS 660. The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle began to make an abnormal vibrating sound as the alarm pressure warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the contact initially had the vehicle towed to his house, and then the dealer informed him that there was a fractured connecting rod in the engine. The dealer contacted the manufacturer who agreed to repair the failure under warranty. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 1,400. The vehicle lost power and the oil ejected from a quarter-sized hole in the engine casing caused by the fractured connecting rod. The vehicle is inoperable.

THE FUEL TANK ON THIS MOTORCYCLE HAS DEVELOPED A LEAK FROM FUEL PUMP MOUNTING FLANGE ON BOTTOM OF TANK. I PURCHASED THIS MOTORCYCLE USED FROM A FRIEND WHO RARELY USED IT, AND I SUSPECT IT HAS BEEN LEAKING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THIS MOTORCYCLE HAS ONLY 3,600 MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR HAD ANY MODIFICATIONS THAT WOULD CAUSE IT TO LEAK. MOTORCYCLE IS STORED INDOORS AND CONSIDERED IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE MOUNTING FLANGE SURFACE ON TANK IS VERY THIN AND HAS WARPED BETWEEN PUMP MOUNT BOLTS CAUSING THE LEAK AS WELL AS SOME CORROSION OF MOUNTING FLANGE. I HAD BEEN SMELLING FUEL SINCE I PURCHASED IT AND FINALLY WAS ABLE TO FIND THE LEAK. THIS LEAK HAS SERIOUS POTENTIAL TO CAUSE FIRE AND DEATH/INJURY BECAUSE IT LEAKS ONTO EXHAUST, AS WELL AS LEAKING AND TRICKLING DOWN ONTO FRAME AND OTHER COMPONENTS AND POSSIBLY LEAKING ON TIRE CAUSING LOSS OF TRACTION AND CONTROL. ACCORDING TO MY ONLINE RESEARCH THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM ON APRILIA MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM APPROX 1999 THRU 2010 AND POSSIBLY BEYOND. APRILIA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT OR OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE OUTSIDE OF THEIR STANDARD WARRANTY COVERAGE.YOU CAN SEE THE WARPAGE AND GAPS IN ATTACHED PICTURES WITH STRAIGHT EDGE USED FOR COMPARISON. THE DARKER DISCOLORED AREAS ON TANK FLANGE PICTURE ARE WHERE THE FUEL LEAKAGE IS OCCURRING. THE MOTORCYCLE LEAKS FUEL AT ALL TIMES WHETHER RUNNING OR SITTING STILL, BUT MAY LEAK MORE WHEN RUNNING OR LEFT OUT IN SUN DUE TO HEAT AND EXPANSION. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT DUE TO HIGH RISK OF FIRE AS WELL AS CAUSING POSSIBLE LOSS OF TRACTION DUE TO FUEL LEAKAGE ON TIRE OR SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. THE ONLY PROPER REPAIR IS TO REPLACE TANK, BUT THEY ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM MANUFACTURER WHICH LEAVES VEHICLE INOP, OR SUBJECT TO POSSIBLY DANGEROUS/IMPROPER REPAIRS.
