MMI/infotainment system randomly shuts down every 30 seconds or even less. The entire screen goes black, it even happened when i was backing up the car while looking through the backup camera, which was extremely dangerous. I have tried all kinds of methods to fix but it doesn’t seem to be working, and it getting worse as we speak with more frequent shutdowns

Audi A4 2020 B9 model MMI "info-system" constantly restarts itself during the drive, regardless of it being connected via Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, or radio. MMI constantly restarts without reason, usually within 1 to 3 minutes. When MMI restarts, the rebooting process takes about another 1 to 3 minutes and prevents access to features such as the back-up camera and prevents safe reversal of the vehicle. Furthermore, the constant rebooting of the MMI interferes with the use of the GPS and audio speaker within the car. Which causes an unnecessary distraction when driving. The problem has been reproduced by self and confirmed by others experiencing the same issue within Audi's support forum. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others due to an unnecessarily high charge required in order to inspect the vehicle. No warning lamps or messages have been initiated prior to the failure or when the failure of the MMI first occurred.

Audi MMI (screen) keep rebooting. I can't use my backup camera. This issue also block the back collision sensor

while driving, including backing up with the camera, the computer restarts itself. Navigation, warnings, and backup camera all restart for about 30 seconds. it has happened while depending on the backup camera. just goes black then restarts.

Audi MMI (Muti Media Interface) constantly resets while driving the vehicle. The problem began about 4 months ago. The MMI would reboot very infrequently- about once every couple weeks. However, I took the vehicle in for a routine oil change yesterday and when I received the vehicle back, it now constantly resets as soon as it reboots. If I attempt to click a button (like accepting my user profile) the screen immediately goes black. I believe this poses an extreme safety hazard given it can shut off while in reverse when the back up camera is engaged. It is also very distracting constantly seeing the MMI reboot and shut down as every time it reboots it asks for credentials/PINs/Users etc. Lastly, it's very dangerous because if I'm on a call it tries to constantly kick it over to the Bluetooth (but it doesn't work) so I have to manually put the phone back into speaker mode which is extremely distracting.

Audi MMI system is failing repeatedly while driving, turning off all screens and requesting login info during driving to reestablish the the MMI user screens. This is a known issue in 2020 Audi A4 models in the US. Maps, speed, engine info all disappear while driving repeatedly every 2-3 minutes. Dealer replaced SOS module in the past to remedy related issues, but some months later this is still happening. A technical service bulletin has been issued (TSB 2067021/6 software update) but is not covered by the warranty to my understanding. I believe this is related to the MyAudi system that multiple users per account/vehicle. There is a disconnect with this cloud service and the vehicle itself, an this is driving the error. This issue makes the entire MMI interface unusable while driving, and ultimately unsafe during use.

The MMI or the entire system reboots wile driving, including times when backing up. Making the rearview camera to go blank and led to possible accident. I also rely on Navigation system to drive as there are numerous exits and turns for commute, but the system randomly reboots and turns the whole system off. This is causing major safety issues.

The 5F module, which governs infotainment, has been identified by the dealership as the part requiring replacement. Yes, the vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request. The malfunction disables the rear-view camera, which is a critical safety feature especially when parking or reversing in tight spaces. It also prevents access to navigation and voice-activated phone controls, which can increase distraction if drivers attempt to manually use a mobile device as a workaround while driving. The constant rebooting also creates visual and audible distractions in the cabin. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by an authorized Audi dealership (Audi of Smithtown). After the initial repair failed to resolve the issue, the dealership attempted the repair a second time. Following further analysis, they recommended a $5,200 repair involving replacement of the 5F module, which supports that they confirmed the problem exists and persists. The issue has been inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Audi dealership (Audi of Smithtown), but there is no mention of inspection by Audi of America, police, or insurance representatives at this time. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages, but the primary symptom was the MMI system randomly rebooting. Initially, the reboots were occasional, but over time became constant to the point where the system was entirely unusable. This issue was present before the June 5, 2025 service visit and worsened significantly after the second repair attempt on June 21, 2025.

MMI system in the radio. It turns off about every 20 mins and restarts on its own. Maps and directions disappear, causing me to enter the information again. It ends phone calls. It is extremely distracting, especially when I lose my location/directions. I have often times missed my turns. This has been going on for approximately 3 months. I will not let my son or daughter drive this vehicle due to the electrical failure.

The MMI (infotainment) system in my 2020 Audi A4 start to have intermittent reboot issue during normal driving starting earlier this year. It was working expected without reboot until that time. The MMI system reboot creates harzards and danger for drivers because during rebooting, the whole navigation system is not working neither did Carplay. What's even worse is that the back up camera and radar will also be disabled during rebooting. The rebooting time varies from 10s of seconds to minutes, with black screen and/or laggy, frozen screen. After rebooting, the system will have error prompt such as 'The selected user has not been used for a extended period of time' but the selected user has been using the vehicle all the time.
