2022 AUDI Q5- St. Louis, MO
Vehicle had first oil change at 10K miles on 1/1/2023 In April of 2023 started noticing smoke and a burning smell coming out of the engine, took car in to dealership. They stated on 4/25/2023 that there was a "small oil leak," and that they repaired and cleaned up the leakage but they wanted to drive the vehicle once more before they released it to me. I have this all in a text message. 12/20/2023 took vehicle in for 20K service and they said there is a major leakage they said in a video they sent me: "found lots of oil on top of the engine, the bolts that hold the Cambridge (not sure if thats what he said/spelling) down are loose, so we will be pulling this all apart and resealing and replacing all those bolts to fix those leaks"

I was parking my car in a driveway on clear and sunny day. As I put the car into reverse, the engine suddenly accelerated. The car then spun around and moved sideways causing me to crash into the garage along the length of the car on passenger side. The garage was heavily damaged as were two other cars in the garage. I was not injured except for mild bruising and stiffness in neck and shoulders. Air bags did not deploy. My car had to be towed away. Three weeks earlier, the RF ACC sensor/module J428 was repaired by the Audi dealership in New London. It was out of alignment due to collision/damage to right front bumper from hit and run driver in a parking lot in June.

SEE ATTACHED..................... The attached tell the whole story. When I looked at this car last June, it was the color we wasted. We have looked at so many Audi's, at other dealers, before this, and because of the pandemic they were very short on stock.. My last three SUV's always had all the safety equipment. The issue here is they didn't tell show us the window sticker and it was not a round.us about the missing safety equipment, We have had this vehicle about 6 months and it is VERY UNSAFE to drive. we have had several close calls, due to the missing safety equipment. I tried to get to get Audi America and the dealer to add the missing safety equipment. Including . It is standard on all Premium Plus modeds Side assist (blind spot) Rear cross traffic Adaptive cruise control It's also missing the.....Phone box, Toll module, and Power steering column. I found out later after they emailed the widow sticker that they took off about $1500 from the price of the car. I would be happy today if the added the missing modules, and safety equipment. I would be happy to give them back the amount they they deducted. At my age of 82, I need this equipment, that my other SUV had. The Audi Lane assist persistently malfunctions and and cause the vehicle to pull towards the lane lines - and even outside of the lane lines - rather than keeping the vehicle within the lane lines as the system is intended to do. The Lane Assist malfunctions could cause an unintended collision with other vehicles, pedestrians, or other objects. On a winding mountain road, the Lane Assist malfunctions could pull the vehicle over the edge of a steep cliff, which could have catastrophic consequences. It has been at the dealership multiple times, yet the dealer has been unable to repair the defect. The dealer acknowledges that the Lane Assist system does not function properly in at least one other Audi vehicle.

The Audi Lane Assist system persistently malfunctions and has done so since March 2022. The malfunctions cause the vehicle to pull towards the lane lines - and even outside of the lane lines - rather than keeping the vehicle within the lane lines as the system is intended to do. These Lane Assist malfunctions have occurred on busy highways, winding and narrow mountain roads, and wide lanes - all of which scenarios could cause serious accidents resulting in serious bodily injury or death. The vehicle has been at the dealership multiple times - and for over 36 days - without the defect being repaired. The dealer acknowledges that the Lane Assist system does not function properly in our vehicle and noted that this is not the only vehicle for which this system does not work properly.

The vehicle’s engine failed and ignited a fire. There is an active safety recall for the engine connecting rod of this vehicle. NHTSA recall number, 22V753. My husband was assigned a loaner vehicle owned by Audi Ontario with an active manufacture safety recall. The dealership was aware of the recall. The recall was not disclosed and the defective vehicle had not been inspected or repaired by Audio Ontario. My husband and my 3 year son were in the defective vehicle on the freeway when it malfunctioned. The engine burst into flames and began to lose function while driving in the carpool lane. The engine ultimately exploded on the side of the freeway with my husband and child nearly escaping with their lives. This incident resulted in both sustaining injuries and trauma. Audi Ontario’s negligence was reckless, dangerous, and displayed a complete disregard for human life. I believe Audi Ontario’s should be thoroughly investigated due to the threat they pose to public safety and recall laws they ignored. Audi Ontario breached their duty to provide a safe vehicle as a loaner, failed to disclose the defective’s vehicle recall or repair status, continuously loaned out an unrepaired recalled vehicle, committed gross negligence resulting in injures, trauma, and child endangerment. The dealer still has not disclosed recall status or repairs of the defective vehicle. I believe the dealer is trying to cover up their negligence and safety violations. It is unknown if the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacture, police, or insurance representatives. Shortly after entering the carpool lane, my husband noticed the “check engine" light come on and the vehicle began to smoke. The engine burst into flames and began to lose function while attempting to exit the freeway. Once parked on the shoulder of the freeway, the vehicle was immediately turned off. Shortly after the engine exploded.

Accident occurred in the parking lot as I was trying to park, sudden unintended acceleration occurred that caused the car to hit the building. Neither front nor back airbags deployed, as well as the automatic emergency break of the collision safety system did not work or activated to stop the car. Both my wife and I were hospitalized. The Auto emergency system of the Audi Q5 is not reliable, and the need for recall.

I'm concerned about the engine connecting rod recall. I'm not too faithful of a dealer replacing the engine if that's what needed. If it is and we have problems, I will want a new q5.
