The MMI/ radio shuts off and reboots at least 4-5 times within a 30 minute drive. When it comes back up, I get the error “user hasn’t been detected for some time” or "A technical error has occurred. The user could not be loaded". I have had it go out while in reverse which is a safety concern. Every time it shuts off it is 30 seconds to a minute where nothing in my MMI is accessible. This began around April of 2025. No warning lights or error codes have been found. I have not taken it in for diagnosis, as it seems to be software related. It seems a lot of people are experiencing the same issue and how it may be related to software updates. It is very frustrating, and provides potential safety concerns as access to any GPS services, backup cameras, and any feature tied to the MMI go completely blank while driving or reversing.

The MMI/ radio shuts off and reboots at least every 5-6 minutes. When it comes back up, I get the error “user hasn’t been detected for some time”. Every time it shuts off it is 30 seconds to a minute where nothing in my MMI is accessible. This began around late June of 2025. No warning lights or error codes have been found. I have not taken it in for diagnosis, as it seems to be software related.I know a lot of people that are experiencing the same issue and how it may be related to software updates, as the current software I have matches what the others have. This is very dangerous as access to any GPS services, backup cameras, and any feature tied to the MMI go completely blank while driving.

MMI system in the radio. It turns off about every 20 mins and restarts on its own. Maps and directions disappear, causing me to enter the information again. It ends phone calls. It is extremely distracting, especially when I lose my location/directions. I have often times missed my turns. This has been going on for approximately 3 months. I will not let my son or daughter drive this vehicle due to the electrical failure.

The MMI (infotainment) system in my 2020 Audi A4 start to have intermittent reboot issue during normal driving starting earlier this year. It was working expected without reboot until that time. The MMI system reboot creates harzards and danger for drivers because during rebooting, the whole navigation system is not working neither did Carplay. What's even worse is that the back up camera and radar will also be disabled during rebooting. The rebooting time varies from 10s of seconds to minutes, with black screen and/or laggy, frozen screen. After rebooting, the system will have error prompt such as 'The selected user has not been used for a extended period of time' but the selected user has been using the vehicle all the time. Given the issue described above, there are more and more ppl who are experiencing the same issue joined a online thread: [XXX] , in order to identify the issue and helping each other to protect consumer's rights. The issue has been shared to Audi Customer Support thru email and phone calls several times, such as case number: XXXXXXXX, all the help they provided to me is to reset key user of the vehicle but it does not solve the issue. - Missouri city, TX

To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint to report a mechanical issue with my 2018 Audi S5 Sportback. Around 57,000 miles, the engine began making a noticeable ticking noise, which I have been advised is due to failing rocker arms. This issue has raised serious concerns, as it can lead to engine misfires, reduced performance, and potentially catastrophic engine damage if left unresolved. The problem appeared without warning, despite regular maintenance and no prior engine alerts. I believe this may be a defect affecting other Audi models with similar engines, and I urge the NHTSA to investigate whether a recall or technical service bulletin should be issued. Vehicle Information: Make: Audi Model: S5 Sportback Year: 2018

The rear passenger side suspension spring coil broke while driving. The possibility of this failure puncturing a tire, dislodging from the vehicle into traffic, or causing control/stability issues of the vehicle is significant. The vehicle has been towed and is sitting until a fix is determined. No warnings were given before the incident. It happened on a smooth, flat, straight road at the time of occurrence.

  • 2023 AUDI SQ5
    - Wayne, PA

My 2023 Audi SQ5 Sportback's key fob stopped working, and when I took it into the Audi dealership they said that it is a known issue that if you don't unclog the drain (not sure where that is - was never told I needed to do so) then there can be leaks that affect the wiring and the Comfort Control Module, rendering the vehicle unusable. They are now trying to charge me approximately $16,000 to fix the vehicle when it is obvious that this is a manufacturing defect not present on other vehicles. I know there has been a recall for other Audi Q5 models, and it seems that the new generation of Audi Q5 has the same issue. I have also seen online that this occurs quite often to other Audi SQ5 and Q5 owners.
