I was driving my Audi when I got transmission malfunction light on along with suspension fault and epc light and check engine light all together and the car wouldn’t go faster than 20 mph. Causing someone to rear end me and them fleeing . So not only was my car hit because of this but I had no driver to hold responsible for the damage

Audi is wanting me and another driver to drive 2.5 hours to their dealer drop off the car for repairs, then drive back. Then after the repairs are complete make that trip again. They want us to spend 20 man hours driving, plus gas, food, and mileage. None of this is reimbursed. I have called and written Audi several times with the same answer. This is unreasonable when they have a local VW dealer and other Audi certified mechanics that can do the job within 20 minutes. Our zip code is [XXX] . Incident Summary for NHTSA Complaint Component Involved: Electrical System: Alternator / Charging System Vehicle State: In motion (City street/Highway) Speed at Failure: Approximately [Insert Speed] MPH Narrative Description: The vehicle suffered a catastrophic electrical failure while in motion, resulting in an immediate and total engine stall in live traffic. This failure occurred without sufficient warning to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder, creating an immediate safety hazard and risk of collision. This is a recurring safety defect: Repeat Failure: This is the second time this specific VIN has suffered a mid-traffic alternator failure. An Audi-certified replacement was installed by an authorized dealer (Audi Arlington) in 2022 following an identical incident. That replacement part has now failed. Failure of "Service Action" (27BQ): Despite an active Service Action for this component, the vehicle was not repaired during multiple prior service visits at authorized dealerships. The manufacturer failed to proactively address the defect, leading to this second roadside emergency. Cascading Electrical Instability: This VIN has a documented history of systemic electrical and safety system failures, including a gasket failure that compromised safety electronics and a total fuel system replacement due to sensor failure. The manufacturer (Audi) has classified this sudden loss of power in traffic as "non-critical," despite the clear risk of high-speed collision and physical injury. I am requesting a formal investigation into the recurring failure of the 27BQ component and the adequacy of the manufacturer's current service remedy.

    - North Augusta, SC

Audi Q8 failed water pump leading to severe loss of power and a major safety issue. I was merging on a very busy highway when I had loss of power with my children in the vehicle. This was alarming as I was not able to accelerate as anticipated and had no warning/notice that this was going to occur, and others around me did not know what was going on as well. This is a known complaint and issue in these vehicles and a major safety issue. Audi should stand behind their quality and it is dissapointing costly repair that shouldn’t be needed at 50 k (right outside of warranty). This issue can cause a detrimental accident.

At least a dozen times, while accelerating from a complete stop, the car has experienced sudden unintended very hard braking without driver input. After very hard brake, car falls out of gear and needs to be restarted and put back in gear. -In clear, dry, temperate weather -Day and night -In drive and reverse -While accelerator engaged -Not touching brake pedal -No obstacles, pedestrians or vehicles present that would require braking -No warnings, alerts or messages on screen -Occurs randomly, nothing to indicate braking is needed -Most recent incident, on flat, familiar road, clear, temperate weather, no obstacles, car unexpectedly braked after accelerating from traffic light, fell out of gear and would not go back into gear for several minutes, resulting in near rear-end collision with multiple vehicles behind that did not expect sudden stop while accelerating. Eventually car would drive a short distance then hard brake, slip out of gear, not be able to drive. This was repeated 4 times before finally being able to drive without failure. -Audi inspected, could not reproduce the issue. It occurs very randomly, so it’s difficult to reproduce on demand. -No fault codes were found or stored -Dealer said without being able to reproduce it there was nothing to be done. I asked for TAC case to be opened for assistance. They strongly refused but eventually agreed. Case was opened but immediately rejected (within minutes). Later they said it was rejected for missing info, including location of incidents, which they never asked me for and I could have provided. Sudden random very hard braking and going into park while accelerating, then not being able to drive, with no warnings or fault codes, is a safety hazard. This has happened many times over a year. Other vehicles can crash into an unexpected stopped car in traffic. The last time I came within a millisecond of a major crash.

This vehicle was involved in a rear end collision in late 2025. The vehicle was just sold at auction with a clean title even though it has frame damage that is more than 100% of the cost of this vehicle. It is sold with a clean title and I am worried that a used car dealership will try to sell it with no accident history and clean title to an unsuspecting person.

The vehicle is leaking fuel like it did before the recall in 2016. Fuel puddle under car after sitting for 3 minutes huge safety problem. The recall was done 9 years after the car was sold and it’s been 9 years since the recall was done and the problem came back, meaning it was never actually fixed, since it lasted the exact same time it took to break the first time.

The car started with charging issues, Audi said they performed an update that was supposed to fix the problems however they did not complete the update like stated. . The car on 2 occasions while driving MMI screen went blank almost caused me to crash. There was no indication or warnings I took it in again where it’s still at. . The vehicle has been in service several times without being repaired. The charging issue has been on going and does not allow charging or disconnects. on several occasions the car driver assist like lane change braking have gone off without warning.even after saving my preference due to it not saving preference. I have called their support we have tried reinstalling the app. I have been told each time at the Audi service it’s something different. Currently where it’s being serviced again it’s now the charging port. And the battery gets to hot and the previous Audi service didn’t complete the update.

I am reporting a defect related to carbon buildup in the Secondary Air Injection (SAI) system on my 2016 Audi Q5 3.0L Supercharged (engine code CTUC). My vehicle has been diagnosed by an Audi dealer with DTC P0491 – Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow, and restricted secondary air flow has been confirmed through Audi-authorized diagnostics. This failure mode is described in TSB 2014569 and TSB 2014665/4. I discovered this when the check engine light illuminated and I sought a diagnostic from the dealer which cost me $249. Audi has acknowledged this condition as a defect in other vehicles by issuing Warranty Extension U19 (10 years / 120,000 miles), which covers carbon buildup in the secondary air injection ports. However, Audi denied U19 coverage for my vehicle solely because my VIN is not included in the warranty extension population. This condition results in increased emissions which impact the environment and which will cause the vehicle to not pass the emissions inspection required for registration. Audi has not provided any technical explanation distinguishing my vehicle from those covered under U19, despite identical fault codes, failure mechanism, and required repair procedure. The repair involves removal and cleaning of carbon buildup in the cylinder head secondary air ports and is quoted at approximately $2,500.

    - Boerne, TX

The contact owns a 2024 Audi Q3. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 MPH, a second vehicle T- Boned crashed into the driver's side of the vehicle. During the crash, no air bags deployed, and the collision avoidance system did not activate to alert the driver. The contact sustained back and neck injuries, which later required medical treatment. The contact also suffered from PTSD due to the incident. A police report was taken at the scene, and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failures was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the crash. Prior to the collision, the vehicle taken to the dealer due to the passenger side air bag was off while a front passenger was seated and also various electrical warnings had displayed. The dealer performed several software updates, but the failures continued to occur. No further information was available. The failure mileage was 4,000.
