2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA Complaints

The screen stopped working I couldn’t see the backup camera and the radio wasn’t working and I haven’t been able to open the door or unlock the door. I went and replaced batteries in the remote at dealership and it still does it from time to time. And the screen has gone black several times. I haven’t touched anything to cause it. I had to turn the van off and back on again 2 times before I could get it to work again.

Occasionally when we start the van the shifter lights don’t go on and while the he engine starts, the shifter won’t move so we are stuck. It can be a few minutes up to 30 minutes We tried to replace the batteries and the shifter. It was fine for a few weeks after but continues to be intermittent after that few weeks. Also sometimes only some of the shifter lights go one and several alarms go off on the consel including fcw unavailable and service shifter. I am concerned one day we will be stranded.

Sticking steering in turns, shimmy/rattle in steering wheel when making hard slow speed turns. The steering wheel felt like it had slack in it when moving it back and forth while stationary with engine running. After driving on the highway the steering kept sticking to the right when rounding small curves. I had to physically pull the wheel back to straighten. This almost caused an accident a few times. There are some SERIOUS DEFECTS and safety issues with this make and model of car. Others have reported this problem on the Chrysler cares forum and found a defective steering rack and gear. I belive this is a broad problme with certain makes and models of the pacifica and extremly dangerous for a family car. I do not feel safe even driving this car on a highway anymore.

The steering of the vehicle has started intermittently grabbing when turning curves or changing lanes. Dealer kept it for 3 days and said they could not duplicate the issue. I experienced the issue several times on my way home and it is getting worse. I had new tires put on the vehicle and a wheel alignment done and still experiencing the issue. I have checked the internet and see that many others are having the same issue with the 2017 Chrysler Pacific but no one seems to have an answer. The vehicle was purchased new from a dealer program car and had about 3500 miles on it. The steering issue has just started recently, and the vehicle is out of factory warranty, but I do have Endurance extended warranty. The grabbing of the steering is getting worse and I am afraid it will lock up and cause an accident. Vehicle only has 60,065 miles on it and no accidents.

Steering "sticks" intermittently going around curves. It releases itself with a jerky action. I have been to the dealer for service. They could not simulate the problem of find any error codes. I am not alone with this issue. It poses a serious safety issue. It started it 2022 and has become progressively worse.

When driving at highway speeds while in a curve the steering will stick which causes u to possibly over correct and could cause an accident... and after doing some research this seems to be a very common complaint with these particular vehicles of the same year model and newer with no resolution ...

After driving approx 400 miles at freeway speeds the engine shuts off. With semis honking as vehicle slowed while trying to pull over. No warning lights before or after stopping. Dash screen displayed "put car in park and press start". This happened twice in 2023. Took to dealer while car was under extended warranty. Was told 'could not duplicate' issue. They also informed me that this was something they never heard of before. We only do two highway trips per year. Took another trip couple of weeks age and vehicle shut off and we had to pull over 7 times going and returning. Dealer says I need a new transmission but can't guarantee that will fix the problem. I'm terrified to put this car on the freeway again. I thought we were going to be killed and possibly injure others on several of the occasions while trying to stop safely. I feel that Chrysler knows about this problem (from what I've recently read on the internet) and at least should know how to correct it. Also, it seems there was a class action suit that has been settled that we were unaware of. This vehicle has less than 60K miles and as we only drive 5-7000 miles per year didn't plan on having to junk it and buy another at this time. I've tried calling Chrysler Corp 800-992-1997. I was given a case # but they just seem to lie and never follow up with the dealer like they said. Now when I call and talk to someone, they put me on hold and kick me into the 'how did we do survey'. Realizing that sometimes you just don't always a ample time to safely get to the side of the road I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. The date listed below is the first time of incidence.

I bought this van about 2 years ago . In the last 6 -8 months. The anti-freeze in the coolant kept emptying, car never hot but disappeared. Turns out it's been going to the engine. I have a friend that is having same issue and should be a manufacturer defect.

Was driving smelled plastic burning parked it at my house now dash says service charging system. It wont turn on or go into drive. I am afraid its going to catch fire.

Engine code P0303 (misfire cylinder 3 was triggered) car was found to be losing coolant through the cylinder. Chrysler dealer declared complete engine failure due to block damage. Stellantis indicated repair exceeded value of the vehicle.
