2022 CHRYSLER PACIFICA PLUG-IN HYBRID Complaints

Last week on the freeway I suffered the issue described in 23V-010 while traveling at around ~75MPH. This was after the fix applied by the recall. My car suddenly began to slow and I was forced to navigate to the side of the road, and stop on the freeway with cars whizzing by, until I could turn off the vehicle and turn it back on. I am hoping to take the car into the dealer within the next few weeks once they confirm that a loaner vehicle is available. Otherwise, I am concerned about the car randomly losing significant propulsion during critical driving events (e.g. getting onto the freeway, changing lanes, etc) or in an area where I cannot pull over safely. Ironically, during my last service appointment I was provided the same vehicle as a loaner. The loaner vehicle from the dealer shut down on me 15 minutes after receiving it with the same issue. So, I suspect the issue is widespread.

Driving on highway and got a message saying "Stop Safely - Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". Pulled over to the shoulder before the engine stopped once. researched the issue and tried to drive to a dealership. Stayed in right lane and the issue happened a second time with the same message displaying and this time, I actually did lose propulsion, but was able to safely park on the shoulder again.

The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the drivers’ side rear door opened unexpectedly. The contact’s daughter had to grasp and hold the door until the contact was able to pull over the vehicle to the side of the road. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle started to drift and noticed a failure with the transmission. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission was previously repaired by the dealer, but the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted but a diagnostic test was not performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure from the dealer and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 23,756.

We experienced a loss of vehicle power while on the highway. The vehicle suddenly went from 70 to 37mph while alerting us to pull over (no prior warning), and the the vehicle would soon come to a stop. We were forced to cross 4 lanes of traffic in order to pull over to the side of a major highway during rush hour. The vehicle had our whole family in it at the time, 2 adults and 2 children under 12. The vehicle put us and all others on the road in danger due to the sudden and unexpected loss of power. We were lucky not to cause a serious accident at the time of the incident. Furthermore, we are fortunate that the vehicle was not struck while on the shoulder of road. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed as a transmission failure by the local Chrysler Dealer. There was no previous warnings or issues with the vehicle prior to this incident.

On three separate days (2/27, 3/18, 3/29), the vehicle has shown a message saying “Stop safely, Vehicle will shut off soon”. The ability to accelerate is cut off. This has happened twice while on the highway, requiring a move across lanes to pull over safely due to loss of acceleration. After turning the car off, the car is able to turn back. The check engine light remains on for the next trip, but turns off on its own by the next day. This is a vehicle which was recently serviced for the following recalls: 1. NHTSA 23V-010 (unexpected engine shut down) completed on 1/16 2. FCA Campaign 47A (squealing serpentine belt) completed on 2/11

We got this message on the dashboard that the vehicle will shut off please pull over safely in the middle of freeway. I couldn't do that and was stuck in highway shoulder with kids and family in the car for couple of hours. This was scary.

The check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a car rental office. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,504. The VIN was not available.

I ran into a very dangerous situation last Monday. I was driving on a freeway and car Brokedown, accelarator unresponsive , got "Service charging system" car lost power It was very dangerous and someohow I was able to get into Shoulder lane and with God's grace we survived. After 3 4 minutes I was able to get my car turn off and on and then it drove with minimal speed 12m/hr. So I decided to take it in nearby open parking area and get it towed. This is serious life threatening especially with family.

The rear tail gate will not latch. In cold weather the rear gate has exhibited problems latching. The tailgate motor fails to open or close and the latch remains released. The latch is well greased and moves. You can hear the latch motor run, however the tailgate does not latch shut. There is no D-Ring or pull to tie a rope. No handles with a through hole to tie the tailgate closed to protect animals and baggage from falling out the back. The tailgate slowly opens by itself while driving. Wind pressure or bumps cause it to open when the latch fails to work properly. This could put occupants and drivers on the highway at risk if things fell out the back of the minivan on the highway. The driver may not be aware that the tailgate opened up while moving by it self on the highway. The automatic closure mechanism and motorized latch need to close and latch tight for safety. There should be a D ring or a handle with a through space to tie the tailgate down if it fails in addition to a recall to program or replace defective components in Chrysler Pacifica with motorized tailgates.

I was driving on [XXX] in Virginia, speed limit is 70mph, a warning flashed in the screen: “Stop Safely, Vehicle will Shut Off Soon.” The car immediately began decelerating, I pulled off the highway and restarted the car, but it would only drive very slowly (approx 15mph). After restarting two more times, it was able to drive normally. This is the second such incident, the car is under warranty. The first incident happened [XXX] and I brought the car to the dealer, Chrysler of Culpepper, Va. Their service department told me that they were unable to replicate the event after the first incident and it was likely just a computer glitch that has corrected itself. I have another service appointment scheduled, but they seem to be clueless on how to fix this incredibly dangerous problem.
