2011 FORD EDGE Complaints

Wipers won't shut off, they randomly turn on even while driving on sunny days. Anti-lock brake system acts up, but sensor doesn't detect that there's an issue with it. Causes problems stopping when acting up. No warning lights come on to show that there's anything wrong, just can't really stop.

While driving down the road my brakes completely locked up on me and by the time I could safely pull over, all 4 tires were smoking (I'm assuming coming from the brakes). I had it towed to a Ford dealer were I was notified that I was the 3rd Ford Edge this week to have the brake system lock up (one of the other vehicles was just purchased by the employee that I was speaking with and his brakes locked up the day after purchasing it, while driving down the highway). In my situation the "Service AdvanceTrec/ABS/traction control" lights came on and next thing I know the brakes are locked up and the car wouldn't go. Luckily I was alone in the car (I have children) and I was not at a high rate of speed, such as the highway. The Ford dealer inspected it and said my ABS system went haywire and I now need a new ABS system/modules after I just had the brake booster and master cylinder replaced. I don't think that it is a coincidence that 3 separate people with the same kind of vehicle (2011-2013 Ford Edge) all in 1 week had their brakes lockup. If there are 3 people in one week at this particular dealer, how many others are out there going through the same issue or have already had this happen? Hopefully Ford can resolve this issue before someone gets hurt or killed in an accident.

Driver's door shows door ajar alarm. Even though doors are all securely closed. Doors will not lock while driving the car. Real safety issue for any children in the vehicle.

Unknown Body control module? Overheating issues Still overheats if left running for longer that a couple minutes

I was taking my Grandkids to school when all of a sudden my brakes went down to the floor. That was the most scary feeling ever no warning light or anything to let me no my brakes where bad.I took my car back the Jd.Byrider they inspected it and said it need a master cylinder they replaced it brakes still doing the same thing they said they was going to try another one then they said it was the brake booster going out or has gone out for me not to worry they sent it to ford they said it had an r dye fed warranty.The car gets to Ford they took a week to look at it they checked it out and said it was the hydraulic control unit that was Faulty. Which would be bout 1800 to fix. I noticed that there has been serval complaints about the same thing that has happen to others brakes just going out with no warning and being told it was a master cylinder.Luckly no injuries has happen yet.My car only has 107,449 miles on it.

Without warning or partial failure the brake pedal goes near to the floor before limited breaking function. The vehicle is not capable of emergency braking. The local dealer confirmed and diagnosed the problem as the brake HCU. There were no warnings or symptoms prior to failure. The estimated cost for repair is $1,900. The HCU component is on National back order with unknown availability. The HCU problem appears the same as experienced by Ford with prior models. See Part 573 Safety Recall Report (19V-904).

When driving, you loose power from the gas peddle, the wrench light appears, you must pull of the road, put the vehicle in park, turn it off, and then restart it, this can happen at any time, 20mp or 80mp, you never know when you will loose power of this vehicle. VERY DANGEROUS

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and felt spongey. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder failed due to the brake booster and both parts needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,898.

Brake Booster issue. Vehicle has been checked by car repair shop (Busse Automotive). Golf Mill Ford has told me car is past extended coverage. Vehicle purchased 2/2011 Having booster replaced by Busse Automotive. Ford Mechanics have been on strike and dealers are backed up, as this is my only vehicle I need to have it replaced to drive safely. The car is in the shop now. Busse Automotive said Ford will work with you on this.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the master cylinder was faulty from a brake booster tear. This was the second time the failure occurred within 2 months. The mechanic had replaced the master cylinder once before when the failure first occurred. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the shop. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.
