    The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing excessive coolant consumption, and the cooling fan was engaging increasingly, prompting the contact to add more coolant to the vehicle. The contact also noticed a strong coolant odor inside the cabin intermittently while driving. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

    The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in park(P), the vehicle unintendedly shifted into reverse. The contact stated that several times the vehicle failed to shift into gear properly. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

    The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the LIMP Mode warning light illuminated and indicated to stop the vehicle. In addition, the low coolant level warning light illuminated. The contact's daughter drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of coolant; however, there was no visual indication of a coolant leak. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed heater hose. The contact was informed that the heater hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the engine was replaced in August 2023 due to coolant intrusion into the engine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

    Ford recall 17S09 indicates back up camera malfunction indicating not working. My Ford Escape fits the year make and model, currently having that exact issue with a not working malfunctioning back up camera. Ford refuses to allow my VIN to be included into that recall repair even though it fits the parameters of the recall. Indicating the fault has to come from the NHTSA.

    The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the heater occasionally failed to function as needed. The contact added coolant to the reservoir and the heater started to operate as needed. The contact stated that the following day the failure recurred. The contact repeated the process of adding coolant 6 more times. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after repeating the process the 6th time while driving 35 MPH, the engine started overheating. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the mechanic performed a pressure test but had not found an oil or coolant leak. The independent mechanic performed other tests but was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,323.

    I saw that there is a current recall dealing with the cooling system on the Escape. My car has been over heating saying engine fault for the past two months. There now appears to be coolant in the engine.

    The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was scanned for codes and the failure was related to the coolant in the engine. The vehicle was not repaired The manufacturer was notified of the failure, opened a case, and referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) as the contact was relating the failure to the recall. The failure mileage was 31,000.
