2015 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

Engine misfired and then completely stalled at 75MPH on freeway. This alone was the major issue putting us and the public at risk. Had car towed to mechanic who indicated there was coolant intrusion into the cylinder block, thereby causing the engine to fail. This apparently is an ongoing issue with Escapes and there is litigation to this point. Well, it happened to me. Due to the failure of Ford to deal with this issue (it is well known and documented) My family was put at risk. We now have a worthless piece of junk, a car that is in pristine condition and no engine.All symptoms and issues were the same.. initial engine warning light and then the failure occurred. The only other sign was increased coolant usage.

DRIVING ALONG JUST FINE WENT PASS ANOTHER CAR ON THE ROAD. WHILE ACELARATING THE MADE A SUDDEN HARD SHIFT AND THEN STARTED TO HESSITATE. THE CAR DID THIS DOWN TOWN PHX 75 TO 25 CAUSING TO CARS BEHIND ME TO CRASH INTO EACH OTHER SO YEAH I HAVE TO SAY THAT WOULD BE A SAFTEY ISSUE. AS IT WAS DOING THIS THE CAR SAID TRANSMISSION FAILURE. SO I HAD THE CAR TOWED AND WHEN I GOT IT HOME I HOOKED IT UP TO MY AUTEL CODE READER BI DIRECTIONAL SCANNER. THERE WAS A PROPLEM WITH 1ST GEAR NOT HAVING THE CORRECT RATIO AND 6TH GEAR INVALID RATIO. THAT IS ALL IT SAID.

An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle at the residence and determined that the abnormal sound was due to the torque converter not receiving enough fluid from the transmission pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving. The contact stated that while accelerating from a Four-Way Stop, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with the assistance of bystanders. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle, and he was able to drive to the nearby independent mechanic. The mechanic referred the contact to a Ford dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with internal transmission failure, which caused the low transmission fluid pressure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 87,265.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic signal, the vehicle started to vibrate and made an abnormal sound from under the floorboards. The contact shut off and restarted the vehicle and was able to drive to his destination. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact later drove the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission flex plate had cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

The contact owned a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the front of the vehicle collided with two trees. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained back, chest, and abdomen injuries and received medical attention. The vehcile was towed to a lot where it was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

Steering rack needs to be replaced. It’s growling when I turn, and now that it’s below freezing in Maine, it’s locking up. It tries to lock up while I’m driving. It’s very dangerous, but the job is a 2-3K job. I’ve researched the issue, and this has happened with MANY Ford vehicles. This is clearly an issue with Ford’s steering racks and should be investigated as it’s extremely dangerous and shouldn’t be happening to so many people. I still owe 10K on this car and have already put thousands into it for repair. Something has got to give with this company making poorly made vehicles that are not built to last. Suddenly smoke billowed from the exhaust. No notification arose through the car's system. The shop tore it apart to find the problem. Said it was an eco boost failure, which also ruined the catalytic converter. A week and $5837 later, they said it was fixed. The next morning it billowed smoke from the exhaust. Took it back to the shop. They then said the problem was a ruined engine. The engine is backordered and will cost about $8000 to replace. The car's engine trouble system never came on despite the numerous codes that are associated with an eco boost failure and I'm sure countless other codes that should indicate an engine failure problem. I travel I-25 and US Highway 6 twice daily for work. If the engine had seized, since it had been damaged, that could have been disastrous for others and me. I have been having issues with coolant loss for over a year now. After doing research online I'm seeing this is a really common problem for Escapes and other models built around the same time frame. I believe this issue is with Ford and they should be responsible to fix it, considering all the evidence supporting how common of an issue this is.

Steering randomly locks up and jerks to one side. I've had it checked twice and both places reported not finding any issues. Not showing any codes to repair it
