2014 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

When driving vehicle on highway it slows down then have to push on gas pedal to exelarate like it sputters then shuts off. Dashboard says Engine Failure park vehicle immediately very frustrating!! I’m about to file a lawsuit if this doesn’t get taken care of!

The Escape in question has a reoccurring issue with the canister purge valve causing gas tank burping and rough engine idle. Mechanic replaced said item a couple of years ago and the problem has reoccured. There is a recall for a Ford Focus with the same year as This Ford Escape 2014. Should not this vehicle be repaired in the same manner by the dealer as the Ford Focus Recall? My mechanic also noted there is a TSB for this Ford Escape 2014 acknowledging Ford has updated the parts for repair to solve the know canister purge valve issue. Replacing the parts for a second time seems unfair and costing twice as much to resolve the same issue with an updated part. Frustrated ?? Update: Since composing the above information the cars condition has become more in need of repair. The 2014 Ford Escape is idling rougher, the gas tank flapper is burping while the car is running and the car is randomly stalling. These conditions correlate with a current safety recall for the Ford Focus of the same year 2014.

In March 2022, my ford escape transmission went out due to torque converter. It just broke down without any indict light warning. I paid almost 6K to have it replaced include all transmission programming, controller. In May 2023 and June 2023, my ford escape just quit for no reason without any warning. I tried to start it up, the dashboard of red battery and red oil light came on. I was stuck in traffic for over 4 hours with this problem. It put me in critical risk being injured or killed since I am deaf. It just shut off completely without any noise or foul smelling or any warning. I brought it to several shop for this problem and they found no problem. They are clueless. They tried to blame on transmission. I refuse to pay 6-7K for transmission again. Ford need to step up and own up their problem, and correct the problem.

Powering steering assist fault. Loss of steering and car went into limp mode and needed to try to pull over immediately. I have reported this issue several. Times. Ford has not been able to fix this issue. This car is not safe to drive. Please hold Ford accountable before someone gets severely injured or dies in a car crash from this known problem with the steering issues.

The vehicle was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the cylinders; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to check for recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact also received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate mileage at the time of the failure was 45,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Unknown- I purchased my Car in 2021 and I’ve had ongoing transmission issues since I purchased it. As of now the issues have gotten worse. I had the transmission recall repair done, but it did not fix the jerking way my car was driving. The repairs keep getting more costly and I don’t believe there’s an actual fix, but rather that this vehicle was sold with a faulty transmission. As of now I can’t drive my vehicle because last month there was a fire under my hood and it’s totally unsafe for me and my family to be in. Ford won’t take any responsibility but they’ve already had to buy back vehicles for settling them with bad transmissions. This is not new for them.

Turned in the ignition. I heard air coming from the brake when i turned on the car. I then could feel resistance when pushing the brake after pushing to the floor. Brake booster fixed once and after a month. The air sound started again when not pressing the brake. I had to use my emergency brake to drive home from work.
