2015 FORD ESCAPE Complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the gear shifter was not able to shift out of park(P). The vehicle was towed to a dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V254000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.

The contact's wife owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was then referred to the local dealer to diagnose the vehicle. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V436000 (Electrical System) and was informed by the manufacturer that the repairs were completed back in April 2016. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 20-25 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal until the vehicle responded. The contact was able to drive to her residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced; however, the parts were not available. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle intermittently failed to restart after being parked after an extended driving period. The contact stated that after multiple attempts, the computer system would activate; however, the vehicle would fail to start-up. The contact also stated that only the passenger’s side exterior lights would illuminate while the vehicle was in operation. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic and was informed that the BCM (Body Control Module) was defective. The mechanic then referred the contact to a dealer since he did not have the equipment to repair the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V436000 (Electrical System). The dealer was notified and the contact was informed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. An appointment was then scheduled to have the vehicle serviced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the engine overheated. The contact stated that the high engine temperature warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the coolant hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

Ford has already recalled a large amount of vehicles due to rear view camera electrical issues. My camera has always worked very intermittently often turning to a blue screen when in Reverse. After a few year this stopped working all together. When taking to Ford dealership and my local mechanic I was informed it is due to the poor/ lack of sealant placed around the camera when manufactured causing the inside to corrode whenever exposed to water/snow. I was quoted over $500 to get the camera and harnessing replaced. This is a safety issue and excessive cost to repair when this is a KNOWN defective issue and already recalled on many other years and models.

On 12/29/2020, Angela was driving the 2015 Ford Escape with Mileage at 133926 in Beverly WV on the main street of 219/250 and the Escape suddenly lost power and slowed down to 30mph and the vehicle shuddered and shook. It picked up speed again for about 30 seconds and then lost power again, this continued for about 2 minutes and then the Escape stopped moving in the middle of the highway in front of the Elementary School and the dash stated “Transmission Fault/Service Now” and Angela was suddenly stranded on the busy highway. Her husband Johnie drove his truck to the area where the Escape was setting and engine was still running but had no power to move. He turned the ignition off and restarted the Escape, the message was gone and vehicle ran and moved fine for about 30 seconds and then did the same actions again with shuddering , shaking, lose of power and “Transmission Fault/Service Now” on the dash. The vehicle had to be towed to Elkins Fordland, Inc in Elkins WV. On 12/30/2020 Elkins Fordland ran the diagnostic on the Escape at the cost of $111.30, they observed transmission pump making whinning noise and vehicle wouldn’t move, recommended new transmission per code (See attached documents and Bills for diagnostic test and replacement of transmission). On 01/01/2021 to 01/15/2021 Elkins Fordland, Inc had the Escape for transmission replacement. The cost to replace the transmission in the 2015 Ford Escape at Mileage 133926 was $5294.10 after tax. This is a Safety Issue due to the no warning of Transmission Fault and the sudden loss of power in the busy highway. The total cost of diagnostic test and replacement of the transmission was; $111.30 diagnostic $5,294.10 transmission Total Cost $5405.40 I have attached copies of the diagnostic and replacement paperwork.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, he noticed that the front end of the vehicle was vibrating. A bystander informed the contact that a part had detached and was dragging underneath the front end of the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road and noticed that the skid plate or engine splash guard had detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the skid plate and inserts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact purchased the skid plate and screws from the dealer and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic replaced the skid plate and the screws; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated that the skid plate was replaced two more times and the screws were replaced 3 more times by an independent mechanic; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

I'm having to fill my reservoir with coolant. There is an indicator on dashboard that states coolant low. I can't see any visible leaks under the hood or on the ground. I am not sure if the 2015 ford escapes are apart of a recall like the 2014 escapes. The lack of coolant circulation could cause the engine to overheat and experience a crack in the cylinder head. A cracked head can cause pressurized oil leaks, oil that can leak onto hot engines. There had been reported fires.

Coolant leaked into cylinder 3 and caused engine failure. Vehicle towed to Price Ford dealership where they investigated and said vehicle would need new engine $8854.83. Date 3/2/2022 mileage 53182. Check engine light on rough running.
