2020 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID Complaints

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V380000 (Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Vehicle lost power steering and acceleration in the middle of a busy intersection

Driver's side door check bracket welds cracked and separated. Now there are abnormal, loud popping sounds every time I open or close the door. The care only has 37,000 miles on it and I am very conscientious about maintaining my vehicles.

The arm attachments have become loose as a result of broken spot welds on the driver side door. This is the subject of SSM50150.

I’ve replaced three times my rear window regulators on both sides. This part is only available thru Ford and there isn’t a 3rd party part. You roll the window down and the regulator stops working/breaks. This has already cost me over $1000 on parts/labor.

Every time the driver side door opens it makes a terrible creaking noise and the window no longer fully goes down in the drivers side. Took the door panel off and its definitely a weld error

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated while opening the front driver's side door, the door weld fractured. The contact stated that she closed the door with force to keep it closed. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, who informed the contact that the warranty had expired. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the warning light indicating that the passenger's side door was opened, illuminated and she noticed that the door was not closed securely. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was opened; however, the manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 45,000.

The dial shifter gets stuck/ locked in position (Park) when overly hot outside. Takes significant time to cool car and release.

4 months after my manufactures warranty ran out, I heard a loud popping sound as I opened and then closed my driver’s door. I looked online and found that this particular model and year are known to have the door check weld break away from the door panel. This can cause the drivers door to swing open without any resistance and is dangerous when parking on an incline or if the door isn’t secured properly while driving. I took the car to the dealership where they informed me that this is a known problem because it is so common but not enough that Ford has issued a recall. Their fix is to replace the entire door assembly instead of rewelding a new one in place to the cost of $2127.58.
