2011 FORD F-150- New Market , AL
Traveling at 45 mph the transmission abruptly downshifted, rpm jumped up past 5000, and the rear wheels locked and made me lose control of the truck. I recovered and pulled over. Luckily no other vehicle was around us at the time as I was all over the road trying to control the vehicle. Ford has not reached out to me about this issue however I have discovered that this is a known problem in this year of F150 trucks and all my Recalls have been completed.

2011 FORD F-150- Stockbridge, GA
This was a previous complaint: WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. I NOTICED MY DIGITAL ELECTRONIC GEAR DISPLAY WAS IN 5TH WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN I ACCELERATED, ALL OF SUDDEN, THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED AND EVERYTHING ON THE DIGITAL DISPLAY APPEARED AS (---). THE TRUCK COULD BARELY ACCELERATE. I DROVE THE TRUCK TO A SAFE AND LOCATION, WITH THE TRUCK BARELY ACCELERATING. I PARKED AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND PLACED IN DRIVE. THE DIGITAL ELECTRONIC GEAR WAS IN THE 3RD GEAR. MY TRUCK WOULD BARELY ACCELERATE. I WENT TO HAVE A DIAGNOSIS PERFORMED AND THE TROUBLE CODE CAME BACK AS P0720 OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A SAFETY RISK. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE BECAUSE MY TRUCK MAY ALL OF SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE A NEWBORN CHILD AND I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE AROUND WITH MY NEWBORN. I PURCHASE MY VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND I ONLY HAVE APPROX 83,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AS OF TODAY. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL. SOME VEHICLES PRODUCED AT THIS TIME MAY BEEN LEFT OFF THIS RECALL. I FIRMLY BELIEVE MY VEHICLE WAS LEFT OFF THE RECALL LIST. I AM AWARE OF A RECALL SIMILAR TO MY INCIDENT BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED. AS OF 3/24/2022, A FEW YEARS BACK MY TRUCK WAS SUPPOSEDLY INVOLVED IN A RECALL. THE TRUCK WAS TAKING TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE SOFTWARE UPDATED. SINCE THEN THE TRUCK HAS REPEATDLY HAD THE SAME INCIDENTS TO OCCUR SINCE THE SUPPOSEDLY SOFTWARE UPDATE. IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS THE INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN OCCURING FREQUENTLY. ON TODAY (3/24/2022) THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR. I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN WHICH I ALMOST FLIPPED MY TRUCK OVER. I ALSO HAD MY 3 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT AND HE WAS TERRIFIED. I WAS TERRIFIED AS WELL. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 112780 MILES AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN FEAR WHEN DRIVING MY TRUCK.

2011 FORD F-150- Queen Creek, AZ
The truck drops out of 2nd and 3rd into 1st gear. The electronics (Speedometer pegged and radio display goes in and out constantly) are shorting. This is a know problem with a recall that needs to be expanded. My truck was produced at the same production plant during 2011 as the recall but for some unknown reason is not included in the recall. The NHTSA needs to force Ford to expand the recall before more people are killed. Eventually there will a class action lawsuit against Ford and the NHTSA for knowing about the transmission short and not doing anything about it.

The truck constantly downshifts out of 2nd or 3rd gear into 1st gear. The speedometer is now pegged and the radio display keeps going on and off. This is a known problem and there a many complaints. This truck was produced in 2011 at the same plant as recalled trucks experiencing the same issue. When is the NHTSA going to force Ford to expand the recall. Do more fatal accidents need to happen before you force them to expand the recall. The NHTSA and Ford will be liable for damages when it is found that they new there was an issue and decided to ignore the issue causing more deaths.

While driving the transmission down shifted the maintenance light came off and I selected okay. At that point the display went to dashes and the vehicle was in limp mode. Was able to park the vehicle safely. Turned the truck off and let sit, started truck 30 minutes later and did a slow drive around the area and the issue did not happen again. Bought this vehicle used has 97000ish miles on it. Getting it looked at ASAP.
