2013 FORD F-150 Complaints

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from sixth gear to first gear. The contact stated that the rear wheel skidded. The contact received recall notification NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the recall repair was completed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The dealer was made aware that the failure had reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously included in a recall regarding the transmission and the vehicle was repaired under the recall. The contact was unable to confirm whether the VIN was included in either NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 19V433000 (Power Train) or 19V075000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission and ECM had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was 121,000.

Driving down the highway fling 55 mph and truck shifts into 1st gear and almost makes me wreck. Part previously under recall but Ford says they will not fix. Original recall 19n01. Shut off vehicle and turned back on. I thought everything was normal but then a mild down the road the truck would not shift out of 3rd gear. This is a safety issue. I'm afraid to drive because of the chance of wrecking. During the entire time the odometer and speedometer both show zero so guessing speed.

Truck downshifts when trying to increase speed. Truck will not shift into all gears, the check engine light comes on, the speed odometer goes to zero and the miles per gallon screen goes blank. All these items happen at the same time while driving. Today the truck wouldn’t take off. I had to shift gears manually to drive it with the console gear shift +/- buttons

After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission lead frame. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 130,000.

While driving the vehicle, it would shift down to first gear. This happened at least 6 times, all a different speeds. No warning lights, except after it happened, the electronics on the dash would go out. Had to shift to park and/or shut off the vehicle, then shift back into gear. I checked for recalls with dealer and there were none, but I saw that in June 2024 they announced a recall for 2014 F150's (mine is 2013) for the same exact issue. I did take it to a car repair place and had a speed sensor replaced for about $800.
