2013 FORD F-150 Complaints

2013 Ford F-150 manufactured 09/13. Truck has 120,000. About 05/01/24 while traveling at 60 mph on the truck lost power, slowed quickly to about 25 mph, I needed to clear through traffic to pull to side of road. The truck would still move but only at 25 mph.. Ck engine light was on as well as other warning lights, odometer displayed - - - the speedometer either displayed 0 or - - - I pulled over, turned truck off waited a couple minutes, restarted and it ran fine, no warning lights drove home. I continued to drive the vehicle for a couple weeks with no problems. On 06/20/24 while traveling at 30 mph in traffic the truck abruptly shifted to a very low gear, no warning lights, pulled over, shut off truck, waited a few minutes, started truck with no warning lights, drove approximately 10 miles to home without incident. 06/23/24 while driving approximately 30 mph the vehicle hard shifted to a very low gear and would not accelerate past approximately 15 or 20 mph, no warning lights. I stopped, turned off, waited a few minutes. Started engine, truck moved but would not shift, I used the manual shift option and it worked, I was able to shift. Drove approximately 1/2 mile to home. I am having truck towed for repairs tomorrow 06/26/24. I was informed of a recall today, 06/25/24 regarding 2014 F-150s, I realize my truck is not listed but it was built at the very end of the model year and I believe it should be reported.

My vehicle has had two instances on the highway where the vehicle abruptly downshifted from 6th gear down to 1st and the other time down to third. I took it to Ford and they said it was the speed sensor however they said it was not a recall. I see all these recalls on 2013 f150’s but not mine?? Why?? Im having the same issue.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the power train control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V433000 (Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000.

Don Rich Ford performed recall # 19S07 on the transmission in my 2013 Ford F150 on 07/05/2019. In 2022 the transmission started downshifting to first gear just like the recent recall affecting the 2014 Ford F150's. Ford wouldn't cover it under warranty. They tried to reprogram it again. That did not fix the problem, so they repaired the transmission by replacing the lead frame and filter at Don Rich Ford in Vila Rica GA on 04/18/2022. This repair was covered on the 2011 and 2012 models, but they only extended the warranty on the 2013 models to 150,000 miles. I was just over this limit when the issues started happening and it was repaired at 155,137 miles at a cost to me of $885.69

When traveling on road and want to speed up to get on freeway, change lanes, or simple speed up I lose power shift and it goes from 6 to 4 or 3 in gears and I can't accelerate which has almost caused many accidents. The check engine signal will only blink right when it's happening and loose speed and the AC air flow will get warm until it corrects itself after I either slow down or shut truck off completely. But always happens when you accelerate at any time.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over into the Emergency Lane, turned off the vehicle, and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the final drive assembly, including, the spider gears and rear axles were blown due to the ABS system being damaged due to the transmission slightly detaching when the downshift occurred. The final drive assembly was replaced; however, the transmission only shifted from 1st to 2nd gear before downshifting back to 1st gear while making a loud grinding sound. The mechanic diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 157,000.

When driving the transmission downshifts to first gear and the wentch light comes on and everything on the cluster goes to “0” you can shut the truck off and back on and it’s ok than transmission will get stuck in 1st gear and you put it in manual mode it might run okay sometimes or it might not
