2017 FORD F-150- Cooper City, FL
Ford Motor Company conducted the Recall that is referenced on 04/14/2026. It is now 07/07/2026 (almost 3 months later) and FORD still has not provided the fix for this recall. It is my understanding that this recall is a software issue; if so, why has FORD taken so long to provide the fix. The reason for my complaint at this time is that i was using my Ford F-150 on the TURO platform. TURO is a car sharing platform. The Ford was being rented on the TURO platform when the recall happened in April 2026. That individual that had the truck rented had to return the vehicle due to this safety recall. Also, on the day of the recall, TURO "delisted" the truck (which is required by law or by TURO's policy) and it can not be rented again until that safety recall is addressed. Also, i had another booking on the TURO platform that had to be cancelled because of this safety recall. Thus, this safety recall has not impacted me financially as well as other individuals that use their vehicles to produce an income to make a living. At this point, I rarely use the truck as well due to this safety recall. I believe that FORD should provide the remedy/corrective action for this safety issue sooner than later. To identity such an issue then to take this long to provide the fix (especially is this is a software issue), seems egregious. I would like some assistance in pressing FORD to provide this fix due to the safety issue itself and due to the financial loss that it has caused. I'm attaching a report from the TURO platform (excluding the names of the renters) in order to see the potential financial impact.

Transmission failure/malfunction (known issue), Harsh/Delayed Shifts, downshifting erratically, loss of power on the highway. I stopped driving the truck after having random loss of power going 75 mph, to having no acceleration and almost getting rear-ended twice. I took the truck in to Holmes Tuttle Ford in Tucson, Arizona to get the TCM reflashed. They confirmed the harsh/delayed shifting and told me it got worse after the reflash, but they were not able to reproduce the random loss of power. Whenever I experienced the truck going into "limp mode" there was a wrench warning lamp turning on. This is a known defect on the 10R80 transmissions, yet there is no safety recall on it. The truck has 100,242 miles on it.

Vehicle is affected by the sudden transmission downshift recall (Recall 24V-473). The manufacturer states that the remedy is not yet available. The dealership refuses to provide a safe loaner vehicle, forcing me to drive a truck with a known, catastrophic risk of a highway wheel-lockup.

Lead Controller in the Transmission. Truck with faulty transvmission is at a local authorized Ford Dealership. Diagnostics show codes for the recall on transmission. First while driving on a local highway, at approximately 45 mph, the lights on the steering column that signal the gear began to flash and the truck downshifted. Again a second time while traveling on Interstate I-95, at 70 mph the lights on the steering column that signal which gear the transmission is in began flashing. The light on the dash that show 1-6 gears also began flashing. The truck downshifted and squealed the tires almost causing a rear-end collision from the car behind me. The lights on the dash and the check engine light lit up showing a wrench. I had to pull the truck over to the emergency lane. It was after this that I received the letter telling me of the recall and I took the truck to the Ford Dealership. It has been there for approximately 2 months. Ford has NOT issued instructions to stop driving under this safety recall; HOWEVER this is an extremely dangerous problem and it is NOT safe to operate. The safety recall is #26S28. NHTSA Recall is #26V237. Please have someone respond to me regarding this issue. There has been NO compensation of a rental , etc.

I am submitting this complaint regarding the failure of the 10R80 automatic transmission in my 2017 Ford F-150. My truck developed progressively worsening transmission problems that were ultimately diagnosed as a failed CDF drum, requiring a complete transmission replacement at a cost exceeding $9,000. Before the transmission failed, the vehicle exhibited harsh shifting, delayed gear engagement, slipping, erratic shifting between gears, and unpredictable transmission behavior. The transmission would hesitate during acceleration, shift unexpectedly, and fail to respond normally to throttle input. These issues created dangerous driving conditions while merging onto highways, crossing intersections, and driving in traffic because I could no longer predict how the vehicle would respond. The repair facility confirmed that the root cause of the failure was the CDF drum within the 10R80 transmission. After researching this issue, I discovered that many other Ford owners have experienced the same failure. Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins addressing CDF drum-related problems and has revised the CDF drum design, indicating that the original component had a known defect. This is not simply a reliability issue. The unpredictable shifting and loss of normal transmission operation present a serious safety concern that could increase the risk of a crash. I respectfully request that NHTSA continue investigating the Ford 10R80 transmission and the known CDF drum defect to determine whether a safety recall or other corrective action is warranted. Owners who have incurred substantial repair costs due to this apparent design defect should also be considered for reimbursement. I have retained repair invoices and documentation confirming the CDF drum failure and transmission replacement and can provide them upon request.

Truck suddenly reported ABS issue while driving. Traction assist light came on. Parking brake light came on.steering assist failure message appeared. Now the power steering is not functioning. I know of 2 other people with near exact issues on a ford and a Lincoln. There is also a pending master cylinder recall that ford said the didn’t have parts for and still haven’t heard back from them on that. Please investigate this dangerous situation.

As of May 23, 2023 Ford issued a TSB 22-2428, TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT Automatic Transmission - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift - Built On Or Before 23-Dec-2022 " Ford issued a TSB and not a recall since they knew the affected vehicles would be out of warranty and they could then charge the owners pay for repair cost of $8,000- $12,000 for a new transmission replacement. Ford refuses to replace these transmission at their expense, if you are out of warranty, which I am and most are unless you have a extend warranty. How it is even legal that they aren't required by law to replace these transmission at the full expense of Ford since they clearly sold us vehicles with known defective transmission from the beginning and refused to address when the vehicles were under warranty. My safety concern is the transmission will fail in open traffic from these harsh engagement, harsh & delayed shifts. I made multiple remarks to the Ford service departments about harsh transmission problems, once around 30,000 miles and again around 60,000 miles. Ford never admitted identifying operation flaws during their evaluations. They stated transmission was operating within normal specifications.
