2014 FORD FOCUS Complaints

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle downshifted and inadvertently accelerated. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The dealer was contacted by phone and notified of the failure. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic with a control module failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

I was parked and it was the first hot day and my car turned off then cut back on after an hour, it did that for the next two days which lead me to tow I.T back home. An auto shop said that my car needed a new pcm . When the car is about to stop it says transmission not in park n no light are on

The components and systems that failed are my engine and gas tank, they both are available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk, approximately two minutes before my vehicle slowed down enough to stop my brakes wouldn't work. Yes I have called the dealership and the problems that the representative listed explaining a recall; is what I have been experiencing with my vehicle. Yes, 6/15/2022 the day after my engine failed my car was diagnosed by All 4 U Auto and he confirmed that the engine had blown and along with the gasoline tank both needed replacements. No, there were no warning lamps nor messages prompting alerts of my vehicle. There were several symptoms of the problem prior to the failure that occurred before and after the Ford recall; 18S32. I completed the recall fuel tank deformation 1/3/2019. I am still experiencing issues with my gas tank, which are listed on the official Ford website. I can only pump approximately 80 miles worth of gas or 1/4 full worth of gas. If I pump anymore the vehicle will stall and require for me to restart it multiple times 2 - 10, the more I "over pump" the more I will have to restart and longer it will stall. During pumping even 1/4 worth of gas my entire vehicle will shake and make a loud sound, and with re cranking causing engine malfunction. The website mentions; "Owners are advised to maintain at least a half tank of fuel until their vehicle is serviced for this issue." although I can only pump 1/4 full worth of gas at a time. Another issue is I cannot leave the vehicle idle over 5 minutes, even when in traffic if I do not keep driving up 6 inches every five minutes it will turn off. This problem has negatively affected my battery, on a few occasions leaving the vehicle idle has caused my battery to need to be recharged and replaced. Lastly the vehicle does exactly what the recall mentions; "inaccurate fuel gauge readings". While pumping gas the mileage on the dashboard sometimes does not increase.

The contact also stated that the vehicle was restarted. The contact also stated he had completed the fuel system recall and had the engine replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. My car is coverd under the extended warranty for TCMs and Clutch parts resulting in the decision in the powershift class action lawsuit. My TCM has now failed, and Ford can not fix the car for up to 6 months, and will make no form of compensation. I don't understand how a car with a known defect like the Focus can still be allowed to plague owners like this while Ford escapes all responsibility.

The contact stated he was unaware of any warning lights were being illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the driver made the service representative aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that two years ago the vehicle was not drivable. The driver towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the TCM and the clutch plate to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the driver continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

May 7th, my car a 2014 ford focus se lost all function of power steering. something else may have happened to the steering as well, because the steering wheel will not turn at all, not even one inch. I've driven cars without power steering and u can still drive them, its just hard to do so. the car was dinging while i was driving, when i looked down at the instrument panel "power steering warning service soon" that went away and this one replaced it "steering warning, service NOW!!!! after stopping the car and turning it off, the car could not be driven again. it had to towed from its spot. this malfunction is not in the recalls for my car. there was also a clicking noise in the front drivers side wheel area when i would turn a corner. luckily i was in a parking lot and no one was injured. thankfully there was a parking stall straight head because the power steering had locked up and i was unable to turn the wheel. had i been out on the open road, there could've been an extreme tragedy for my family and children and maybe others as well. i would like for y'all to include my car for the ball barring/steering recall, as well as all 2014 ford focuses. when the made and model are typed in to this website and immediate warning pops up saying to stop driving this vehicle due to the steering.

Transmission, light comes on and off rpm's race and decline loses power. Sometimes won't go into gear. This is a huge safety concern.

Car transmission shutters when car accelerates, which creates a danger especially when trying to pull into traffic. Cannot have a dealership look at this car without leaving it there for two weeks. Generally no warning lights, but ABS light will turn on when shuttering is heavy.

The transmission overheating warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off.
