What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The steering system of my Ford started to fail, to be specific my steering wheel went hard and it was impossible to turn it. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was driving at around 50 miles per hour, and I was with one friend and all of the sudden my steering wheel stopped working and I had to pull over immediately since I was no longer able to drive it. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I have heard that these cars 2010-2012 Fusions have this problem and they are a lot. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, when this occurred a message appeared saying first: "Service Power Steering assist" after I parked and turn off the car it appeared a second message saying "Service Power Steering Now" and the steering wheel was rock solid, it didn't move anywhere. With those messages a message saying "Service Advancetrac" also appeared, and they were changing back and forth. I had to towed my vehicle to my house.

The gas tank has developed a crack towards the top of the tank. This appears to be from the exact same issue that Ford recalled because the "purge valve" can cause the pressure to change inside the gas tank. As the pressure increases and decreases, a crack can develop in the top of the tank, allowing fuel to leak. My VIN was not included in the recall for some reason. Even though it is the exact same model and I believe was even built at the same plant in Mexico where the other impacted vehicles were made.
