2013 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on two occasions while the vehicle was parked, the interior hood latch release button failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the hood release cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000,

The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH, the engine temperature indicated that the engine was "HOT" and the message "Low Engine Coolant" was displayed before the vehicle stalled. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. My vehicle has a coolant intrusion from a known defective head gasket. The gasket has failed and there is coolant on the pistons. This is a known issue for Ford ecoboost engines from 2013-2018 and I request NHTSA's assistance with compelling Ford to remedy the problem.

The backup camera fails to show an image from behind the car over 75% of the time. The display in the car is black upon putting the car in reverse, within about 2 seconds a message displays “rear view camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership.” The collision sensors (rear cross traffic) also does not work when the camera is not working. Looking at multiple online sites, as well as a friend who has a similar model Fusion as I do, there are many many reports of this issue . My car is low mileage (63,141). Ford also has multiple recalls for this issue on other models and years, this car should be included in the recalls.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the transmission was serviced prior to the failure. The contact called the same local dealer and was informed that there was no recall coverage for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 142,200.

I was driving my 2013 ford fusion and the power steering stopped working. There was no warning prior. The power steering assist warning appeared and I am not unable to drive the vehicle. There currently an active recall for 2013 ford fusions but my vehicle does not qualified and I believe it should. I have replaced the engine and transmission and there were active recalls on those issues and my car did not qualify the recall. I believe my car should qualify for the current power steering recall.
