2011 FORD FUSION Complaints

The 3rd time that an abs event has caused the brake peddle to go extremely soft. Eventually pressure in the peddle will regain after several weeks. The issue I'm experiencing is identical to Ford's Safety Recall 19S54 which states an issue with sticky abs valves and a loss of pressure in the braking system. I'm not sure why this vin is not included in the recall but I would really appreciate an NHTSA ordered recall as this can be an highly expensive fix that should have been included in Ford's recall, in my opinion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the power steering control module (PSCM) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer for repair. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 15N01. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

My vehicle is a 2011 Ford Fusion, with 165,000 miles on it. When leaving my apartment, as soon as I got on the highway and went above 15 mph my car violently started to shake, I immediately pulled over safely and got out to check around and under the car. Got back in and put it back in drive. Started to drive and it once again started to violently shake. I immediately pulled over again and called to have it towed. Once able I tried to get Ford to look at it but they said the next appointment was 2 months out. I had another mechanic look at it and he said the PTU had failed and would need a full removal and installation of the transfer case. With all the work that needed done he said it would be over 4K. I don’t have that kind of money right now because I just had tire rods replace and ball joints so I’m just going to have to wait. Having been without a car has been so difficult. I searched online and found that many drivers of the Ford Fusion as well as other models are experiencing issues with the PTU. Again, I don’t have this money right now so unfortunately I’ll have to have the car sit at my place until I figure out what to do. When I called the Ford dealer, he said he has seen several PTUs go out. It’s just frustrating because I always keep up with maintenance with my vehicle, as well as tires. I don’t race my vehicle or anything so this shouldn’t be happening.

The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became firm with the "Service Power Steering Now" and "Service Advancetrac" messages displayed on the instrument panel. The steering rack and pinion had been repaired twice for the same failure; however, the failure recurred after each failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 140,400.

The contact was informed that the steering angle sensor signal and stability control and higher warning system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance; and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 86,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Lug nuts cracked and swollen. Recommended replacing after very difficult to remove and rescrew
