2013 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an odor coming from the engine compartment and that the vehicle was hesitating. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer after the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the contact was informed that the manufacturer declined the recall repair completed. The vehicle was not repaired, and the contact was instead offered a trade-in value. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 326,000. The consumer stated Ford would not comply with repairing the vehicle under the safety recall because the cost exceeds the value of the vehicle.

Swollen lug nuts. When attempting to get the wheels serviced, shops said they could not get the lugs off because they were corroding so a 19mm and a 20mm did not fit. There are other reports for this already.

The contact pulled over on the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the EPS gear and the axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering). The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 100,000.

There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle lost power steering functionality. A warning message indicating power steering failure was displayed. The contact was able to continue driving by using physical force to steer the vehicle. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repair; however, after the recall repair, the power steering failure increased significantly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 MPH, the check engine, engine coolant system failure, and various other unknown warning alarms and lights were illuminated and heard, and the vehicle then lost motive power. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, there was no diagnostic test or repair completed. The vehicle was then towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact then towed the vehicle to another independent mechanic and after the mechanic shifted the gear into neutral(N), the vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was then diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the mechanic's shop awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.

Not sure if related to recall - took vehicle in due service in December 2022 for service and recall. My Ford app indicates they did not take care of it. While driving from California to arizona on January 9, 2023 the engine lights came on: coolant hot, vehicle unsafe to drive, see manual. I couldn’t drive my vehicle. Broke down on the 10 interstate. Would not move. Would not go into reverse. It was towed to surprise Ford in surprise, arizona and I’m currently awaiting diagnostic testing. They said they will check if it’s related to recall. Towed from I-10 to home by AAA. Home to shop by sttae farm insurance. Thank you. The contact stated that after being inspected at the dealer, the damage to the vehicle was found to have no relation to the recall.

The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his wife was driving 70 MPH, a warning message indicating power steering failure was displayed. The contact's wife veered to the side the road and attempted to activate the hazard lights however, the hazard lights were inoperable. The contact met his wife on the side of the road and towed the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering gear control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The steering wheel of my 2013 Ford fusion is becoming loose. Apon looking up this issue I found that there is a recall on 2014-2018 Ford Fusions for this same issue. I am wondering if my vehicle can be included so that this safety issue can be fixed?

2013 Ford Fusion with 99,799 miles on it; went out to go start it after work one day, unable to get into car or start car as battery was completely drained. Did not leave lights on etc. Had someone jump car; on way to repair shop, car shut down and would not restart; thankfully I was NOT on a highway. Since that time, it has had 2 new batteries placed in it, will run for about 5 minutes then shut off and you cannot restart it again; it has also been to 2 repair shops and is presently at the Ford dealership as my shop was not able to determine what was wrong. Cooling fan also noted to be running after car died yet still not able to restart. Read on Ford forums that this has happened to other Fusion owners of the same year.Up to this point, intermittently the battery saver message would come across the dash however I had that looked at and was cleared out. With the car just shutting down without any warning on a busy street in the city, this could have ended a lot worse: I could have been hit or even killed. No warning lights appeared on dash aside from powertrain light after it was jumped but after that, there was nothing. Car was essentially dead and I could not get it to restart. When it was running I could not get the car to go over 10mph in a 35mph zone
