2013 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, a message indicating a power steering failure was displayed. The steering wheel locked. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact was able to drive to her residence by using physical force to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the Powertrain Control module (PCM) had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as there was no open recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 174,000.

The steering gear failed while driving and I had a total loss of power steering. I had no warning when this fault occurred, and the only warning came after the event. The original part that malfunctioned is not available for inspection, nor was it inspected by any other agency prior to its replacement. Loss of power steering while driving is incredibly dangerous, thankfully no accident occurred due to this failure.

Power Steering warning light came on while I was driving. I was still able to steer the car. After I shut the car off and turned it back on I could barely steer the car. The warning light came on again. I left the car at a nearby garage, but they are closed until Jan 2, because of the holiday. I could have gotten into an accident. Other vehicles were flashing their lights and honking as I had to drive very slowly with my hazards on to get to the repair station. This is truly a safety issue with my 2013 Ford Fusion.

Gasoline leak from gas tank. The fuel sender failed at 60,000 miles, had it replaced. Vin not under recall. Now fuel leak from replaced fuel sender. Again Vin not in recalled units. WTF?

While driving, I stepped on the brake pedal to slow down as I turned into a parking lot. The pedal went to the floor and I had no brakes. I was able to pump the pedal and regain some pressure to park and come to a stop. I called my insurance company for roadside assistance and had the car towed to a nearby service station recommended by a friend. Once on the lift, the technician immediately found that the right front brake line had failed.

The contact stated that she veered to the side of the road until the vehicle cooled down. The contact then continued driving. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The contact would veer to the side of the road and add coolant to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an unknown repair was completed. The contact also stated that the front driver's side door would fail to close securely. The dealer repaired all four doors under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would fail to start immediately after refueling. The contact stated that she had to quickly depress the accelerator pedal after depressing the brake pedal to start the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 233,000.

Engine coolant is leaking into cylinder #3. Check engine light came on around 60,000 miles. This is a known problem by Ford and is most likely an engineering fault. It has been cited in TSB 19-2172, 19-2208, and 19-2346. I have an estimate of almost $8,000 through a local certified mechanic, who found the problem. However Ford required me to take it to get it verified by a Ford dealer, and they found the same problem and their estimate for repair i over $9,000.

I was driving home from work in the freeway my 2013 Ford Fusion started shaking , jerking , stopping and not accelerating and all of the sudden came to a complete stop. I was almost hit by vehicles in the freeway and had to exit to get the vehicle tow due to faulty transmission issues with ecoboost. Ford was contacted and they try to tell me no open recalls for the transmission.

On Nov. 7, 2022, I took the 2013 Ford Fusion to the local dealership in Lugoff, SC for Recall 20S30 Latch Repeat repair . I waited the majority of the day and the majority of the next day and they were unable to complete the recall repair as the Ford Corporate system was not working, I have checked back with the local dealership every week since then and still no resolution. Finally, last week I called the Ford headquarters (Case Number CAS-3990-9379). They said the problem was on the local dealership's end and then I would call the local dealership and they would said it was on the Ford corporate end. This back and forth went on for 2 1/2 hours ass I could not get me along with the other two parties on the call at the same time. I called the local Ford dealership today December 7 and still no resolution.

My 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium hesitates a lot while driving, and on several occasions the vehicle has flat out stalled in the middle of traffic. Something pops up on the dashboard saying “Run Power Active” and when I go to restart it, it’s takes a while for the car to turn back on. This has happened more than once a day some times.
