2014 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 5-10 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. A message indicating that the vehicle was overheating was displayed. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to shift into gear. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train); however, the dealer declined to complete the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was then towed to a used car dealer, where the thermostat was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,126.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed and went down to the floorboard. The contact's husband added brake fluid to the reservoir; however, the failure persisted. Upon inspecting underneath the vehicle, the contact's husband noticed that the brake fluid was leaking. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that one of the front brake hoses had ruptured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact later received a notice for Ford Campaign Number 22N02. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided partial reimbursement. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Engine coolant over temperature light came on as I was pulling in my driveway. Checked the coolant, it was very low. There’s been no visible leaks on the driveway. Added coolant, turned the vehicle on but the car barely turned over. It’s not drivable. Will need to be towed to the dealer. By all the research I have done, this is a huge issue on this year, make and model with the eco boost engine. This needs to be on the recall program.

The trunk on my 2014 ford fusion SE randomly opens. This occurs 3 to 4 times per day. Sometimes while driving, other times while its parked. This obstructs my view, and can cause danger to other drivers if contents in my trunk fly out.

My Fusion stalled when exiting a parking lot in a busy downtown area when my 17-year-old son was driving. It restarted and he was able to drive home. After the initial incident, for several days the car sputtered repeatedly. Upon inspection, the Ford dealership indicated the car has coolant leaking into a cylinder causing the performance issues. The Ford dealer service agent indicated I needed a new engine because of the situation. This is just not right. This issue should have been addressed by Ford the right way (when they knew of the design flaw), rather than pushing the problem to its customers, putting their lives and safety at risk.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that while the engine was idling, there was an abnormal metal scraping sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that metal shavings were discovered inside the transmission fluid, and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 139,412.

Tire kept going low, and I took it to Walmart since I was closer to them and was told by the technician that the tire was separating at the rim area and it’s a manufacturer’s defect. They sealed the tire and told me it need to be replaced. He said it had good tread and shouldn’t do that. I informed him that I bought from Meineke. So I took it back to Meineke and was told that there was nothing they could do since it was sealed somewhere else.

Brakes suddenly went out while vehicle was in use. Brake pedal went all the way to the floor and emergency brake did not work or secure vehicle. No dash warnings or lights showed up in advance for warning. Vehicle was towed to mechanic where it was confirmed that a part of the brake line had ruptured on the passenger side and would not allow fluid to be retained. Repair Cost was paid out of pocket and owner was out of work 2 day.

The contact's granddaughter owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his granddaughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was water intrusion into the pistons. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist function. The contact self-inspected the vehicle and noticed that the bolts connecting the steering gear were detached. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.
