2015 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, she noticed that fluid was leaking underneath the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000. Rear brakes locked up, causing brake pad, caliper, and rotor failure. All components replaced for left and right side rear. Right rear brakes failed a second time including complete brake failure with brake pedal traveling to the floor, same parts replaced. Third failure on the rear brake with the brake pedal again traveling to the floor rendering the car unsafe. No warning lights at any time. Car was repaired twice by an independent service center. This put ourselves and others at risk to serious injury due to the inability of the vehicle to come to a safe stop.

The contact was able to drive to his destination. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that one of the steering gear motor bolts was missing and another one was fractured. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) since the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The engine codes stated that cylinder 3 was misfiring, and all of the spark plugs were replaced. The check engine light went off for a few days and then came on with the same code. Then all of the coil packs were replaced. A few days later the engine light "coolant overheating" came on and the engine started running rough, the computer stated that it was shutting the car down to half power. There were visible signs of coolant sprayed all over the engine. After allowing the car to cool off for 2 hours the car continued to run rough and display coolant overheating. The car was unable to reverse but could go forward. The car was taken to a mechanic and cooling issue codes came up. The cooling system was tested and the water pump was checked before the coolant was found to be leaking into cylinder 3. The car was not repaired, as this is the second engine for this car with approximately 130,000 miles.

The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon her daughter starting the vehicle, an abnormal snapping sound was coming from the vehicle while turning. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that her daughter used excessive force to steer the vehicle home. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
