2011 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the “Power Steering Assist” warning light illuminated and the vehicle was difficult to steer. The vehicle was restarted and the power steering functionality returned however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that recently while driving 20 MPH, the power steering assist warning light illuminated and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The vehicle was driven back to the residence in manual steering mode. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure with a damaged power steering control module assembly which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

2011 FORD FUSION. WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND EVERY TIME I MAKE A TURN THE CAR CLUNKS. TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE AUTO SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. HE DIAGNOSED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE ASSEMBLY STEERING SYSTEM. HE ADVISED US IT WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. MY MOM HAS A 2012 FORD FUSION WITH POWER ASSIST PROBLEM AND HAD TO PAY OVER $2,000 TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE FORD DIDN'T SHOW IT AS ONE OF THE THOUSANDS OF CARS THAT WERE RECALLED. After some further research, there is a NHTSA recall number on this problem. It is 15V340000. The Ford Recall Number is 15S18.

The contact was able to drive the vehicle home and upon arrival, her husband informed her that the rear passenger’s and driver’s side wheel hubs had separated from the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V574000 (Wheels) which she linked to the failure. The contact then called the dealer where she was informed that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The contact also attempted to contact the manufacturer but did not receive a response. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 73,400.

The LCD screen displayed an electronic braking message. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the failure was due to the ABS control module. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Steering assist failure light came on no ability to turn wheel. Dealer said steering rack needs replacement. Codes u 300049&u300096 & u300097. My make and model is showing no recall on vin however all years surrounding it with the same electric steering rack part are under recall for it.

The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the messages "service advanced track" and "service power steering" were displayed however, the vehicle operated as normal. The following morning while starting the vehicle, the power steering was faulty, and the steering wheel was difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering gear assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000. Vin was not included in the recall and warranty was out 3 months.

My brake pedal stays down and I have very little brakes. i took it to my mechanic and he has been waiting for the part for over 6 months. I recently called him and he informed me that Ford was no longer manufacturing that brake part. What do i do now? My mom has a 2009 and she had the same issue and It was recalled. Will my car also be recalled or am I stuck with a car with bad brakes?

The power steering assist fault warning came on and I lost power steering a few minutes later the advance traction control light came on. It is my understanding that there is a recall out on the power steering assist unit.
