2014 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the engine failed and inadvertently shutdown. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic who determined a failure with the camshaft, metal shaving in the oil, a fractured timing chain, and faulty transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact believed the failure might be related to NHTSA Campaign Number 22V413000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

I first bought my 2014 Ford Fusion in 2020, a few months later the electronic power steering failed and locked up while the vehicle was in motion going 45MPH on the highway. Luckily, I was able to pull over far enough to wait for a tow truck to take me to a repair shop a couple miles away. The repair shop told me I needed my electric power steering rack and pinion replaced, they quoted me $2000 for parts, labor and realignment. I got my vehicle towed to my father's house as I do not have that kind of money and proceeded to order my own electronic power steering rack and pinion online which cost me $682.76 which my dad and I installed together. Fast forward 2 years later my power steering is starting to stiffen up again while driving and likes to 'stick' to the side I am turning the steering wheel to. This is a serious safety hazard which can and will end up putting someone in the ICU or even cause death. Ford Motor Company NEEDS to issue a recall for the electronic power steering in the 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles. I will more than likely need to replace mine again just after 2 years of replacing it, I do not have the money to replace my power steering every 2 years. The first time this happened my car was at 76,000 miles and now at 107,400 miles it is happening again. I have read countless complaints online about this exact issue for the 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles of all trim levels. PLEASE start an investigation and make Ford Motor Company issue a recall, I am begging you. Thank you

This recall has already been reported; however, IT IS NOT safe to drive my vehicle and I would not recommend anyone else driving theirs. My car stalled on my as I was in traffic, this could have ended up in a very bad situation. I need someone to contact me ASAP [XXX]. Your recall notice states Ford HAS NOT issued instructions to not drive. You all have a lawsuit waiting to happen. People should NOT BE driving their cars. The contact's son owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while her husband was in the vehicle located on an incline and reversing, the brake pedal was applied but they failed to respond and crashed into an unknown vehicle. The driver looked under the hood and noticed the oil was low. There were no warning lights illuminated. There was no reported injuries, fire, or air bag deployment. A police report was filed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000. The VIN was not available.

Yes check engine light came on. On the high way and my car started jerking back and forth out of control I could have been rear ended and my car started to slow down my gas peddle would not allow me to accelerate I did get to side of high way and had to figure out where to get a tow truck i put my car in shop I’ve been told I need a new transmission and I wasn’t able to fix that on my own ford has sent me a recall letter but only to fix half of my transmission and also my brake peddle got recalled I really need these problems fixed and done right not sure who I’m suppose to reach

My vehicle's engine or turbo randomly started sucking coolant and blowing white smoke from the exhaust.

I have made 4 separate attempts to mount new tires. I researched the "Swollen Lug Nut" issue and purchased 10 new lug nuts as well as a 18.5MM x 19.5MM Flip Socket for the shop to use. That has even failed and my new tires are still not installed. I have spent in excess of $85 for these lug nuts and flip socket.

The transmission failed at 159k miles. The car will not go into reverse. My vehicle is not part of the recent recall, 22s43. But has experienced the same issues listed in the recall. I believe my vehicle has the same work bushing issue which has caused the transmission to break down due to poor quality and broken parts

The lug nuts on all the tries won't come off. It seems like the stainless steel cap is no longer connected to the actual lug nut making it impossible to get off with out ripping the cap off and then getting a socket on the lug nut. I need to change a tire out but am unable to unless I destroy the lug nut cap.

The contact stated that the ABS and Hill Assist warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the vehicle was diagnosed with a failure with the steering gear. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number 19V632000 (Steering); however, the contact stated that her state was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
