2013 FORD FUSION Complaints

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact also stated that the power steering failed not allowing the contact to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that the coolant warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with the engine needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the Vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Power sreering failure. No warning. Just randomly occurs. Steering wheel locks up and driver in unable to steer the car. HUGE safety issue! Seems ti be a common problem after researching the Internet.

WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND VEHICLE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING, BUT TRANSMISSION QUIT PULLING (FLEXPLATE HAD FRACTURED AND BROKEN). VEHICLE COULD NOT ACCELERATE OUT OF TRAFFIC. I AM AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP IN CRESTWOOD. KY AND HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE TWICE IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS IN VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION COMBINATION. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS AN AWD FORD 2015 EDGE. I'M SURE THIS IS AND WILL BE A MAJOR ISSUE.

The power steering went out as I was driving my car. I got an alert of 'power assist fault' and 'service advance track' when driving in the rain. The vehicle became very hard to turn which put me at risk of crashing. This has been a widespread problem with 2013 Ford Fusions and many have been recalled. My VIN number was not included in the recall. This happened a few months after purchasing my car brand new as well. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer. There were no warning signs before this.

I have had a few incidents where my car displays "power steering assist fault" and the steering gets tight and my car will just stop running. This has occurred multiple times since I purchased my vehicle last summer. One time it occurred on the Turnpike while going at a speed of approximately 70mph and it has also occurred just after I had turned my car on to back out of the driveway. It has also occurred while going 25 in town. Luckily every time I was able to pull over safely each time. I took the car to a dealer just a few weeks ago but they looked at it one day and could not duplicate the problem. It happens randomly so just my luck it did not occur when someone was inspecting it.

Steering assistance failed leaving car unsafe to drive. It’s is available for inspection. Fortunately the steering failure occurred after I parked the car.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with nothing needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 127,550.

The contact owned a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at 25 mph, there was an abnormal smoke odor inside of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle caught on fire. The fire department was called out and extinguished the fire. A police and fire report were filed. No medical attention was sought. The vehicle was towed to a police towing facility. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.

The transmission shifter was in the “Park” position, but my dashboard highlighted the “Reverse” position. Using the Shift-Brake Interlock, I attempted to remedy the problem and now my dashboard reads in the “Sport” position while the shifter can move freely. Luckily I had just gotten off work and parked in my spot at home. No injuries or damage other than the aforementioned transmission issue.

16 year old driver left home and 4 miles into trip noted that the hot engine indicator had come one. She stopped immediately at the next road and opened the hood to see what the problem was and immediately noted smoke and flames under the hood. Car then proceeded to erupt into flames and burned resulting in a total loss.
